  • Publication number: 20120206945
Abstract: There is provided a controller for a converter and a respective method of operating such a controller. The converter receives an input power and provides an output power by a switching operation wherein in an embodiment the output power has at least two phases. The controller includes an input for receiving a feedback signal depending on the output power of the converter, and an output for providing a control signal to the converter to thereby control the switching operation of the converter. The control signal corresponds to a switching pattern that is updated in response to the feedback signal. The control signal includes a harmonic compensation signal which reduces higher harmonics in the output power, the higher harmonics originating from a time delay between taking the feedback signal and the updating of the switching pattern.

  • Patent number: 7724548
Abstract: A method of controlling a power converter is used to interface to a power grid or supply network operating at a frequency (Fnet) that is nominally fixed (say at 50 Hz, for example) but which can be varied as a way of controlling power imbalanced within the network as a whole. The power converter can include a network bridge that operates in accordance with the pulse width modulation (PWM) strategy having a switching frequency (Fpwm), a nominal switching frequency (Fpwm_nom) and a number of pulses per period (Pulse_Number).

  • Patent number: 7526787
Abstract: A system and method for remotely recording television programs using a remote redundant recording system in case of local DVR system failure. The system and method enables a subscriber station to transmit a plurality of recorded timers to a television provider's head end where the timers are associated with television programs the subscriber desires to have remotely recording in case of a local DVR failure. This system and method also enables the data processor at the television provider's head end to monitor the digital recording device while the programs selected are being broadcast, and in the event of a power outage, record the program selected on the data storage space.

  • Publication number: 20090077183
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for associating automated electronic mail (e-mail) with a calendar of events. A sender utilizes an automated e-mail to notify an event's scheduled attendees that the sender is out of office. When utilizing options within a mail user agent, a user may select a set of calendar days in which the user is not available for events. The mail user agent, associated with the user's calendar of events, displays one or more events conflicting with the selected days the user is not available. The e-mail addresses of one or more attendees associated with the conflicting event are dynamically linked to the automated message. The sender may input a text message informing owners, all attendees, and/or select attendees of the sender's absence.

  • Publication number: 20080114591
Abstract: The illustrative embodiments provide a method and an apparatus for writing a shortened text message using a wireless mobile device. An editor receives longhand text written through a user interface for the wireless mobile device. The editor then matches the longhand text with at least one shortened equivalent. A user interface then displays the at least one shortened equivalent. Responsive to receiving a user input accepting the at least one shortened equivalent through the user interface, the editor replaces the longhand text in a message with the at least one shortened equivalent.

  • Publication number: 20060125358
Abstract: A server rack enclosure has a display, keyboard and mouse mounted on the inside face of the enclosure's door. When the door is in an open position, these user interface devices provide access and control over the servers, hard drives, network equipment, etc. mounted in the server rack. The location of the user interface devices on the enclosure door saves valuable rack space for servers or other machines. The user interface devices are integrally or separately mounted to a vertical rail affixed to the door to permit user positioning of the user interface devices to a preferred height by sliding the display and keyboard along the rail. The display and keyboard are mounted to the rail using hinge or swivel mounts to permit the user rotation and positioning of the user interface devices to a preferred viewing and operational angle.
