    Abstract: Systems and methods of a safety helmet for protecting the human head against repetitive impacts, moderate impacts and severe impacts so as to significantly reduce the likelihood of both translational and rotational brain injury and concussions can be provided. The helmet can include an outer shell, an omnidirectional liner disposed within and coupled to the outer shell and configured to move relative to the outer shell, and a chinstrap coupled to the omnidirectional liner. The chinstrap coupled to the omnidirectional liner can hold a wearer's head to the omnidirectional liner and prevent the chinstrap from applying forces to the wearer while omnidirectional liner moves relative to outer shell. Other embodiments may include a chinguard with a movable chincup.

    Abstract: A system or method for carbonating a liquid includes receiving, in a sealed container of a carbonator of a drink dispenser system, a predetermined amount of liquid, identifying a predetermined carbonation level associated with a flavoring material, and setting a target pressure of the sealed container based on the predetermined carbonation level. The target pressure is selected from a plurality of different target pressures. The system or method also can include releasing pressurized carbon dioxide from a carbon dioxide source into the sealed container holding the predetermined amount of the liquid therein until an internal pressure of the sealed container is substantially equal to the target pressure. The system or method can also include dispensing, into a drink container, the flavoring material and the liquid from the sealed container of the carbonator.

    Abstract: A method and apparatus for preparing a brewed beverage includes positioning a capsule with a brewing ingredient at a lateral opening of a brewing chamber. Heated water is conveyed to into the brewing chamber to brew the beverage by filling the capsule with the heated water. An outlet valve on of the brewing chamber is opened for filling a vessel with the brewed beverage through a feed nozzle. The brewing chamber is moved together with the feed nozzle from a brewing and filling position, where the capsule is positioned at the brewing chamber and the feed nozzle is above a passage for filling the vessel, to a rinsing position where the capsule is removed from the brewing chamber and the nozzle is above a guide element for directing water for disposal. In the rinsing position, the brewing chamber is rinsed with rinse water which is disposed via the nozzle and the guide element.

The primer ink composition can be applied before or after the application of a color ink. By applying a primer ink composition, the color of the substrate is improved after the substrate is fired, and the manufacture cost is reduced compared with current industrial decorative ceramic tile processes.

    Abstract: A streamlined method for purifying alpha-1-antitrypsin (AAT) from an AAT-containing protein mixture, such as Coh fraction IV precipitate, is provided. In the method of the invention, contaminating proteins are destabilized by cleavage of disulfide bonds with a reducing reagent, such as dithiol, which does not affect AAT. The destabilized proteins are then preferentially adsorbed on a solid protein-adsorbing material, without the addition of a salt as a precipitante. Spearation of the solid absorbent from the solution leaves a purified AAT solution that is directly suitabale for chromatographic purification, without the need for extensive desalting as in prior art processes. A process incorporating this method, which provides pharmaceutical grade AAT in high yield on a commercial scale, is also described.
