  • Publication number: 20170138750
Abstract: A method and a corresponding device are provided for extending the range of vehicles having an electric drive. A control unit for a vehicle that is driven by an electric motor, which is operated by electrical energy from an electrical energy store, is described. The control unit is designed to determine a first state of charge of the energy store at a starting position of the vehicle and to determine a first range of the vehicle starting from the starting position on the basis of the first state of charge. Furthermore, the control unit is designed to determine that the first range of the vehicle is insufficient for reaching a target position of the vehicle. The control unit is also designed to determine a changing region between the starting position and the target position on the basis of a second state of charge of the energy store and on the basis of the first range.

  • Publication number: 20170073970
Abstract: A pre-formed header assembly creates a rough wall opening for a metal door/frame, permitting completion of electrical, ducting, drywall, etc. prior to receiving/installing the door frame. The header is secured to first and second king studs at respective locations positioned beyond a desired door frame location. The header includes four different channels, one of which is utilized at two locations. The first channel has a first length to span between the king studs. The second channel has a second length, and the third channel a third length, which correspond to minimum dimensional requirements for completing the wall. The base of the second and third channels are each fixedly secured to the base of the first channel. The base of the fourth and fifth channels are fixedly secured to the first and second ends of the base of the first channel, respectively, substantially perpendicular thereto, for attachment to the king studs.

  • Publication number: 20170058101
Abstract: A polymer composition that can be used to form a melt-extruded film is provided. The polymer composition may contain an olefinic polymer and a transition metal salt. By selectively controlling specific aspects of the polymer and the transition metal salt, as well as the relative concentration of each component, the present inventors have discovered that the resulting composition can exhibit a relatively fast oxidation rate, which has been found to improve the adhesion of the composition to a wide variety of substrates.

  • Publication number: 20160209930
Abstract: Approaches are described which enable a computing device (e.g., mobile phone, tablet computer) to display alternate views or layers of information within a window on the display screen when a user's finger (or other object) is detected to be within a particular range of the display screen of the device. For example, a device displaying a road map view on the display screen may detect a user's finger near the screen and, in response to detecting the finger, render a small window that shows a portion of a satellite view of the map proximate to the location of the user's finger. As the user's finger moves laterally above the screen, the window can follow the location of the user's finger and display the satellite views of the various portions of the map over which the user's finger passes.

  • Patent number: 9377860
Abstract: Approaches are described for providing input to a portable computing device, such as a mobile phone. A user's hand can be detected based on data (e.g., one or more images) obtained by at least one sensor of the device, such as camera, and the images can be analyzed to locate the hand of the user. As part of the location computation, the device can determine a motion being performed by the hand of the user, and the device can determine a gesture corresponding to the motion. In the situation where the device is controlling a media player capable of playing media content, the gesture can be interpreted by the device to cause the device to, e.g., pause a media track or perform another function with respect to the media content being presented via the device.
