  • Patent number: 7876740
Abstract: A method and system for synchronization of link layer windows in a wireless communications system is disclosed. At a transmitter in the wireless communications system, the transmitter transmits a plurality of frames in a transmitter's link layer window, wherein each frame comprises segments and sends a request for an acknowledgement of the plurality of frames to a receiver. Then the transmitter determines a last transmitted segment of an eldest frame of the plurality of frames in the transmitter's link layer window, if a response to the request is not received within a specified time period and sets a synchronization indicator in the determined last transmitted segment of the eldest frame. Finally, the transmitter transmits the determined last transmitted segment of the eldest frame with the synchronization indicator set to the receiver.

  • Publication number: 20100144357
Abstract: Allocation of channels in a dedicated frequency spectrum on a secondary basis. A direct mode communication request (150) from a first wireless communication device (112) can be received and processed to determine whether there are one or more secondary communication channels over which direct mode communication may be implemented between the first wireless communication devices and other wireless communication devices (114, 116, 118) without violating at least one communication policy for the secondary communication channel. Use of a secondary communication channel can be assigned or denied. In addition, a direct mode communication request can be communicated from a wireless communication device to a base transceiver station (104) identifying one or more other communication devices for which direct mode communication is requested.

  • Publication number: 20050096614
Abstract: In one embodiment, a feminine care product comprises a cover layer containing a cover material and indicia imprinted thereon, a liquid impervious bottom layer bonded to the cover layer, and an absorbent core intermediate the cover layer and the bottom layer. The indicia is formed from an ink comprising a surfactant and/or a botanical extract in an amount effective to increase the absorptive properties of bodily exudates into the cover layer as compared to the cover layer without the surfactant and/or botanical extract.

  • Patent number: 6495788
Abstract: A wire electrode for machining a piece by electro-erosion includes a metallic core and a cladding having an alloy of manganese and zinc obtained by simultaneous electrolytic deposition at a thickness between 1 and 40 micrometers. The cladding permits a substantial increase of the machining, particularly rough machining, performance, a considerable deformability of the wire, a high resistance to traction and stability of the cladding over time.

  • Patent number: 5415019
Abstract: An apparatus to restrict the movement or rotation of a steering wheel is disclosed. Such an apparatus has a gear disposed upon a portion of the steering wheel column that couples with a stopper that is disposed within a cavity defined by a sleeve. The sleeve has a plurality of sleeve walls that define the cavity, where the walls extend from a back side of the sleeve. The back side defines a hole with hole walls that extend from the back side of the sleeve toward the cavity. The stopper has grooves for coupling with the gear disposed upon an inner side of the stopper facing the gear. The grooves on the stopper interlock with grooves disposed upon the gear. The stopper further has a protrusion that extends through the hole, and a locking mechanism that extends inwardly from the protrusion to adjust the placement of the stopper within the cavity.
