  • Publication number: 20240149536
Abstract: Techniques for forming a nanopore in a lipid bilayer are described herein. In one example, an agitation stimulus level such as an electrical agitation stimulus is applied to a lipid bilayer wherein the agitation stimulus level tends to facilitate the formation of nanopores in the lipid bilayer. In some embodiments, a change in an electrical property of the lipid bilayer resulting from the formation of the nanopore in the lipid bilayer is detected, and a nanopore has formed in the lipid bilayer is determined based on the detected change in the lipid bilayer electrical property.

  • Patent number: 11965210
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems and methods for molecular identification and polymer (e.g., nucleic acid) sequencing using nanopores. The polymer may be passed through or in proximity to the nanopore and various subunits of the polymer may affect the current flowing through the nanopore. The various subunits may be identified by measuring the current at a plurality of voltages applied across the nanopore and/or membrane. In some cases, the polymerization of tagged nucleotides presents tag molecules to the nanopore that can be identified by measuring the current at a plurality of voltages applied across the nanopore and/or membrane. Also provided herein are systems and methods for sequencing both the sense and anti-sense strand of a double stranded nucleic acid molecule with a nanopore and methods for using ribonucleic acid (RNA) speed bump molecules to slow the passage of a nucleic acid molecule through or in proximity to a nanopore.

  • Publication number: 20240000180
Abstract: A helmet comprises a protective shell, an energy absorbing layer defining an inner surface of the helmet and a shear component. The shear component extends over one or more areas of the inner surface of the helmet and has an outer surface removably coupled to the inner surface of the helmet. The shear component has a distal inner surface configured to contact a wearer's head, or to support and retain a separate comfort pad configured to contact the wearer's head. In response to an oblique impact to the helmet, the shear component undergoes internal shear to allow displacement between the helmet and the wearer's head.

  • Publication number: 20230397687
Abstract: A helmet comprises an outer shell, an outer liner positioned inside of the outer shell, an inner liner positioned inside of the outer liner, at least one displacement device positioned between the inner liner and the outer liner, and at least one helmet coupler that couples at least the outer liner and the inner liner together. The coupler comprises a first head positioned in a first recess in the outer liner, and a second head positioned in a second recess in the inner liner. A coupler post extends through the outer liner and the inner liner to interconnect the first head and the second head. The displacement device produces a damped shear action in response to relative movement of the inner liner and the outer liner. The helmet coupler permits the relative movement and keeps the outer liner and the inner liner coupled together.

  • Patent number: 11238759
Abstract: A combination wristband and label form. The form includes a polyester section having a single-ply wristband defined by die cuts therein. The wristband includes a foldable portion having a first panel and a second panel. An outer surface of one of the first panel and the second panel is coated with a coating configured for receiving printed indicia. An outer surface of at least the other of the first panel and the second panel has adhesive to allow for the first panel to be adhesively secured to the second panel after the coating has received the printed indicia. The void exposes the coating on the outer surface of one of the first panel and the second panel to allow the printed indicia to be printed on the coating through the void. Upon folding the foldable portion, the printed indicia is sandwiched between the first panel and the second panel.
