  • Publication number: 20200297091
Abstract: Apparatus for manipulating the shape of hair using dielectric heating is provided. Typically, the apparatus comprises opposing first and second electrodes respectively provided on first and second arms that are movable towards and away from one another; and drive circuitry for supplying electrical energy to the first and second electrodes, to cause an alternating electric field to be produced in the vicinity of the electrodes in use, and thereby cause dielectric heating of hair placed between the electrodes in use. Sensing circuitry may also be provided for sensing a change in coupling of energy from the alternating electric field to the hair during heating of the hair; and control circuitry for controlling the drive circuitry to vary the electrical energy supplied to the first and second electrodes in dependence upon the sensed change in coupling. A related method of manipulating the shape of hair using dielectric heating is also provided.

  • Publication number: 20200034125
Abstract: Embodiments herein disclose systems and methods for enabling new types (referred to as existent types), that allow for expressing additional possible values and, thereby, eliminating out-of-bounds access errors in programming. In addition to the value “null” as supported by many programming languages, embodiments herein introduce a new special or reserved value to represent an out-of-bounds access. In an exemplary embodiment, a special “undefined” value or memory address, which is distinct from “null”, that exclusively describes out-of-bounds accesses is defined. The implementation includes but is not limited to value checks, bounds checks, and container-level implementations.

  • Publication number: 20190287146
Abstract: A system, method, and computer program product are provided for implementing a license ledger in a Network Function Virtualization based (NFV-based) communication network. In operation, a license ledger system identifies information corresponding to one or more usage transactions associated with one or more virtual network functions (VNFs) in a NFV-based network. The license ledger system stores the information associated with the one or more usage transactions utilizing blockchain technology such that the information associated with the one or more usage transactions is unalterable. Additionally, the license ledger system communicates with one or more license reporters to provide access to usage data corresponding to the one or more usage transactions associated with the one or more VNFs to provide a trusted source for real-time usage data.

  • Patent number: 10296313
Abstract: A computerized method is provided to consume a dynamically-typed language in a compatible language, and to compile source code in the compatible language to a target language. The methods make it possible to add type safety and static type checking to a superset of dynamically-typed languages, irrespective of whether the dynamically-typed languages are dynamically type-checked or not. In preferred embodiments, the methods allow for all types in an external language to be represented as a single type. In various embodiments, more than one unified external type can be allowed, each unified external type being specific to a group or class of types. In the methods, conversions are used as a mechanism to convert types. Conversions can be either implicit or explicit, and explicit conversions can be either implementation-defined or user-defined.

  • Publication number: 20190144256
Abstract: Embodiments of the invention provide a coupler for use in a closed transfer system configured to selectively engage a container seated in fluid communication with the coupler. The coupler has a body with a slot having an axial component, and an outlet. A probe extends from a first end portion to a second end portion and is at least partially received within the body, the probe is configured to be movable relative to the body between a first position and a second position to selectively control a flow of fluid through the outlet. A probe tip with a cylindrical bore is configured to engage the second end portion of the probe, and a handle is coupled to the probe and configured to interface with the slot. Axial movement of the handle along the slot moves the probe between the first position and the second position.

  • Patent number: 10138045
Abstract: A protective apparatus for an article, the apparatus including a surrounding sidewall having a first end portion and an opposing second end portion, the sidewall also having a perpendicularly oriented first margin portion and an opposing second margin portion, also with a primary interior. In addition, included is a plurality of particulate items loosely disposed within the primary interior and a structure for removable engagement positioned adjacent to the first and second margins. The removable engagement structure facilitates the first and second margins to be removably engaged allowing the surrounding sidewall to envelope the article. The primary interior can be evacuated, thus removing the air spaces between the particulate items and in the interior resulting in rigidifying the surrounding sidewall partially encompassing the article to protect the article.

  • Patent number: 9944830
Abstract: This invention relates to cyanoacrylate-containing compositions that include, in addition to the cyanoacrylate component, a rubber toughening component, which is substantially clear and colorless and which is substantially free of release agents and anti-oxidants known to impair the fixture speeds and shelf life stability of cyanoacrylate compositions to which they are added. As a result, the inventive rubber cyanoacrylate adhesive compositions demonstrate improved properties, such as fixture speed, strength and shelf life under accelerated aging conditions.

  • Publication number: 20170291069
Abstract: This invention encompasses a balance board/wobbling platform type of apparatus which uniquely enables integrative training in two distinct realms not normally combined—namely, directly integrating physical BALANCE with expressive MUSICALITY such that MUSIC itself can actually be created by the BALANCING adjustments of the user/s. In a direct sort of way, the user of the Giant Musical Wobble Board is actually enabled to create MUSIC by means of BALANCE. This unique empowerment is effected by means of toned bells (or other sounding devices) being affixed in an easily moveable manner (in the preferred embodiment) to the surface of a wobbling platform—which (in the preferred embodiment) is of a substantive size—so that the user through minute balancing adjustments can direct a rolling ball to contact/sound the toned bells.
