  • Patent number: 6877940
Abstract: Improved panels suitable for use in bulkhead and partition systems. In one embodiment of the invention, the panels are seamless, one-piece members integrally formed from a single resinous material. In other embodiments, the panels include depressions that obviate the need to fill the panels with foam or other supportive filler material. In still other embodiments, the panels have no fasteners extending through panel so the panels are substantially impervious to moisture. Other embodiments have grooves or similar mounting means disposed around their peripheral edges to which edging such as supports or flexible seals may be mounted. In yet other embodiments, the grooves are arranged so as to permit worn out seals to be quickly and easily replaced without the need to remove mechanical fasteners.

  • Patent number: 6857834
Abstract: An apparatus for lifting or moving a partition or panel may in one embodiment include a frame that is mountable to an interior surface of a cargo area and a locking mechanism comprised of smooth and knurled guide and locking pins through which a strap is fed. In preferred embodiments at least one knurled locking pin can slide between a locking position which inhibits strap movement and a non-locking position in which the strap is substantially free to slide through the lift mechanism. In certain embodiments a knurled locking pin may be operable to slide into a locking position when a load is placed on a lifting end of the strap, such as when the strap is connected to a panel which is being lifted or moved. The knurled locking pin may also be operable to slide to a non-locking position when a user pulls on the opposite end of the strap.

  • Publication number: 20040126200
Abstract: An improved bulkhead and partition system in which at least two panels are independently attached to mounting members such that each panel can be moved independently. In a preferred embodiment, two bulkheads or panels are slidably attached to separate pairs of ceiling-mounted rails in a refrigerated trailer such that each bulkhead or panel can be independently slid toward the front of a trailer or toward the rear of a trailer to define, in cooperation with a removable center partition wall, a plurality of different cargo areas to be maintained at different temperatures.

  • Publication number: 20040108751
Abstract: A component of a motor vehicle passenger compartment comprises an internal frame in which is mounted collapsible frame that is displaced in response to the application of an abrupt force. The collapsible frame can be attached to the internal frame by shear pins that are sheared off during relative movement of the collapsible frame and the internal frame under a force of a predetermined magnitude, preferably less than the force causing injury to an occupant. Alternatively, the collapsible frame can be coupled with the inner frame by means of one or more retaining ridges. The collapsible frame can slide over the ridges when under a force of a predetermined magnitude, also preferably less than the force causing injury to an occupant.

  • Publication number: 20020109272
Abstract: Molding techniques and apparatus wherein at least one adjustable edge component can be used to alter the dimensions of the mold cavity between molding operations. Also disclosed are techniques for incorporating reinforcing composite elements into molded plastic parts. Most preferably, a rotomolding technique is used to fabricate a substantially homogenous composite panel for use as a partition or bulkhead.

  • Patent number: 6363927
Abstract: A log burning device that includes a standing grate that supports at least one log and a cover that is attached by at least one hinge to the standing grate. A method for burning logs using a standing grate that has a hinged cover that is attached to the standing grate. The method includes the steps of rotating the cover to an open position, loading at least one log onto the standing grate, lighting the log, and then rotating the cover to a closed position.

  • Patent number: 6088861
Abstract: A tool includes a body with implements rotatably deployed from the body. The implements have notches in their bases corresponding to open and closed positions, which are engagable by a locking plate of the body. A locking lever rotatably mounted on the body includes a lock actuator plate which does not engage the locking plate when the locking lever is rotated to an unlocked position but does engage the locking plate when the locking lever is rotated to a locked position. The engagement of the locking plate causes it to contact the notches of the implement base, thereby locking the implement either open or closed. The body may be inserted into a handle, such as the handle of a combination tool, so that the operation of the locking lever also locks the body into the handle.

  • Patent number: 5732449
Abstract: A display device for a fashion accessory that includes an elongated strap of a purse or similar bag and a retaining member that receives a strap in a looped form and retains the strap in its desired position. The retaining member receives and retains the strap in its desired position without slippage by providing a unitary body defining a retaining plane parallel to the plane of the strap, wherein apertures are disposed on and passing through this retaining plane. In the preferred embodiments of this invention, the retaining device takes the forms of a figure-eight or S-shaped design. Moreover, breakaway tabs may be provided to enhance the frictional resistance to slippage.

  • Patent number: 4418450
Abstract: The invention pertains to a cargo control fitting utilizing webs wherein an identical pair of fittings are used in conjunction with a web loop, and the fittings include locking tabs received within an opening defined in an anchoring support member. The fittings include an outer edge located within the web loop and to protect the web loop from being crushed against this outer edge protecting extensions are defined on the fitting which extend beyond the outer edge a distance at least equal to the web thickness. Further, the extensions are obliquely disposed to the plane of the fitting to laterally extend a distance from the fitting side equal to the web thickness to protect the web from also being crushed against the fitting lateral side.
