  • Publication number: 20240127853
Abstract: A primary subsystem captures original information and supplemental information to form a revision. A primary subsystem enables revisions to be made at the location of the incident prior to leaving the location. Systems for collecting and managing information about incidents include primary and secondary subsystems. A category is a descriptor or label that identifies a common aspect among members assigned to the category. Categories may determine how information is stored, communicated, and/or accessed on primary and/or secondary subsystems.

  • Publication number: 20240094357
Abstract: In one embodiment, a lidar system includes a light source configured to emit local-oscillator (LO) light and pulses of light, the emitted pulses of light including a first emitted pulse of light, where an optical frequency of the first emitted pulse of light is offset from an optical frequency of the LO light by a first frequency offset. The lidar system further includes a receiver configured to detect the LO light and a first received pulse of light, the first received pulse of light including light from the first emitted pulse of light scattered by a target located a distance from the lidar system. The receiver includes a detector, where: the LO light and the first received pulse of light are coherently mixed together at the detector, and the detector is configured to produce a photocurrent signal corresponding to the coherent mixing.

  • Patent number: 8133241
Abstract: The present invention relates to a one-step fastening device, a process for creating a fastener utilizing such a device, and the end fastener produced thereby. In this regard, the invention uses an outer, hollow fastener material that can be partially compressed under tension at designated areas (i.e., a compression member) and an inner activation or tensioning member. The compression of the outer fastener material occurs at one or more flexible areas or compression features specifically located on the longitudinal axis of the material. As a result, the outer compression member is capable of being distorted or bent under tension to produce a predetermined configuration. The device described herein has the ability to form specific and controllable fasteners of designated shapes and configurations. Methods for fastening, snaring, gripping, cutting, and manipulating material using the device in a confined space are also provided.

  • Patent number: 7699161
Abstract: An ophthalmic lens package comprises a shell having an internal cavity accessible through an opening in the shell and a drainage member that divides the internal chamber into an upper chamber and a lower chamber. The drainage member is permeable to aqueous liquids and is arranged to allow drainage of liquid from the upper chamber to the lower chamber. This arrangement of the ophthalmic lens package allows the consumer to retrieve the lens from the upper chamber without handling any significant amount of saline solution.

  • Patent number: 7360999
Abstract: A medical pump, for use with a cassette having a pumping chamber, includes a pumping element with a piston slider assembly which intermittently pressurizes the pumping chamber during a pumping cycle and has a piston head connected to a main body with a single pressure sensor positioned therebetween. A camshaft is associated with the pumping element, an inlet control element, and an outlet control element for closing the pumping chamber to flow when the pumping chamber is pressurized. A processing unit receives pressure and position data from the pressure sensor and a position sensor associated with the pumping element, and processes this data to determine the operating condition of the pump. The operating conditions determined include: blocked fluid flow, no fluid in the line, no cassette associated with the pump, proper pump priming, or proper valve sealing.

  • Patent number: 5982456
Abstract: A digital video production switcher processes a plurality of video signals in a production environment. The switcher includes a control panel for receiving operator inputs and switching unit for receiving video input signals and for providing video output signals. The switcher also includes a pair of tightly coupled, independent processors synchronized to the video frame rate: a control processor and a general purpose processor. The control processor controls the "live critical" production functions. The control processor provides control signals, in response to operator inputs, that program the switching unit to provide desired video output signals in real time. The general purpose processor runs an open architecture operating system and provides control signals, in response to operator inputs, that cause the switching unit to provide desired video output signals in real time.

  • Patent number: 5882342
Abstract: A syringe for giving medical injections which has an internal mechanism for retracting the needle into the syringe after the injection has been given and locking the needle and plunger inside the barrel of the syringe to reduce the risk of accidental needle pricks. In one embodiment the needle is retracted by a tension spring into a compartment inside a hollow plunger and in the other embodiment the needle is propelled by a compressed spring into a compartment within the plunger. In both embodiments, the interior of the hollow plunger is hydraulically sealed off by a barrier from the fluid chamber of the syringe to prevent fluid from entering the interior of the hollow plunger.

  • Patent number: 5624522
Abstract: A method and apparatus for applying granules to a coated asphalt sheet to form at high production speeds with shingles a variegated pattern having uniform pattern edges. Granules of a first color are applied to spaced first areas on a continuously moving tacky asphaltic strip, such as a hot asphalt coated organic or glass fiber mat. Hot asphalt or another adhesive is applied to at least a portion of one or both of the leading and trailing edges of the first areas to provide predetermined uniform edges to tacky second areas between the spaced first areas. Granules of a second color are then deposited on the second areas. The granule coated strip is then cut into shingles. The method may be used to create multiple pattern areas with two or more different colored granules or granule blends.
