  • Publication number: 20210034467
Abstract: Techniques for performing processing to recover metadata may include: shadow top structures, and performing processing that uses the shadow top structures to recover information for an index node associated with an object of a file system having a file system logical address space. One of the shadow top structures is created for each metadata (MD) top node of a MD mapping structure used to determine storage locations of data stored at corresponding logical addresses in the file system logical address space. Each MD top node is used in determining storage locations for a specified subrange of logical addresses of the file system logical address space. Each shadow top structure corresponding to a MD top node describes each file system object mapped to a logical address included in the specified subrange of logical addresses of the file system address space associated with the corresponding MD top node.

  • Patent number: 10909197
Abstract: A method for determining the significance of a document, or a portion thereof, is disclosed. Accordingly a search engine, or some other application, analyzes user associated content portions of a document to determine a relevance score for the document (e.g. Curation Rank). The particular algorithm for determining the relevance score will vary depending upon the particular implementation, but may generally be based upon an analysis of the number and quality of user associated content portions, comments, ratings of the user's themselves, and the ratings of users contributing to interactions (e.g. sharing) with the content portions. Based on this analysis, the document is assigned a relevance score which is used for ranking the document in accordance with instructions associated with a search query. E.g. the document relevance score may be used in selecting and ordering documents returned in search results for a particular search query.

  • Patent number: 10907983
Abstract: An online system provides navigation information customized using travel preferences of users. The online system receives actions performed by users that may indicate their geographical locations of interest. The online system may use a model to predict a user's level of interest in destination geographical locations. The online system generates navigation information or travel information that describes routes from origin geographical locations of users to destination geographical locations to which the users are likely to travel. The online system transmits the navigation information to client devices for presentation as personalized or dynamically-created content items to users. The online system may generate navigation information using catalogs describing routes between geographical locations. For instance, the catalog indicates a vehicle for navigation along a route, as well as origin and destination geographical locations.

  • Patent number: 10901710
Abstract: Processor hardware detects when memory aliasing occurs, and assures proper operation of the code even in the presence of memory aliasing. The processor defines a special store instruction that is different from a regular store instruction. The special store instruction is used in regions of the computer program where memory aliasing may occur. Because the hardware can detect and correct for memory aliasing, this allows a compiler to make optimizations such as register promotion even in regions of the code where memory aliasing may occur.
