  • Publication number: 20140101691
Abstract: A method and system for tracking of objects in a video is disclosed. The method of the present invention enables user to indicate a boundary-box to the identified object of interest in the broadcast video on television or any other communication media. The object indicted in the boundary-box is than tracked by the users connected in a social community network in the upcoming video frames of the broadcasted video. The tracked object is then tagged by the users in the social community network. Further, the present invention enables augmentation of the tracked object in the video by extracting additional information from the online service providers. The augmentation and tagging of the object generates metadata related to the object. The metadata generated is stored on a server to track the object in future based on the metadata related to the object.

  • Publication number: 20140099033
Abstract: An approach to computation of kernel descriptors is accelerated using precomputed tables. In one aspect, a fast algorithm for kernel descriptor computation that takes O(1) operations per pixel in each patch, based on pre-computed kernel values. This speeds up the kernel descriptor features under consideration, to levels that are comparable with D-SIFT and color SIFT, and two orders of magnitude faster than STIP and HoG3D. In some examples, kernel descriptors are applied to extract gradient, flow and texture based features for video analysis. In tests of the approach on a large database of internet videos used in the TRECVID MED 2011 evaluations, the flow based kernel descriptors are up to two orders of magnitude faster than STIP and HoG3D, and also produce significant performance improvements. Further, using features from multiple color planes produces small but consistent gains.

  • Publication number: 20140095465
Abstract: A method for determining the significance of a web page, or a portion thereof, is disclosed. Accordingly, a search engine or some other application analyzes user-selected content portions (as well as user-provided comments associated with the portions) of a document to determine a document relevance score (e.g. Content Selection Rank) for the document containing the user-selected content portions. The particular algorithm for determining the document relevance score will vary depending upon the particular implementation, but may generally be based upon an analysis of the number and quality of user-selected portions, associated comments, the ratings of the user making the selections and the ratings of users contributing to interactions (such as sharing) with the portions. Based on this analysis, the document is assigned a document relevance score, which is used for processing the document in accordance with instructions associated with a search query.

  • Publication number: 20140085665
Abstract: An inkjet printer is placed in communications with a print production planning and scheduling system to allow planning, monitoring, and adjusting of an automatic digital (ink jet) printing production line. In one embodiment, the order of the print jobs is defined by the print shop owner or by the associated supervisor. Each job becomes a paper based (printed) job ticket and the order in which the jobs arrive at the print operator side defines the print order. The same is true for the order at the RIP side. Any change in regards to this order requires a direct communication of the print shop owner or supervisor with the printer or RIP operator.

  • Patent number: 8682822
Abstract: A system, method and computer program product produce spike-dependent plasticity in an artificial synapse. A method includes: an electronic device generating a pre-synaptic pulse that occurs a predetermined period of time after receiving a pre-synaptic spike at a first input. The electronic device generating a post-synaptic pulse that starts at a baseline value and reaches a first voltage value a first period of time after receiving a post-synaptic spike at a second input, followed by a second voltage value a second period of time after the post synaptic spike, followed by a return to said baseline voltage a third period of time after the post-synaptic spike. The generated pre-synaptic pulse is applied to a pre-synaptic node of a synaptic device in series with a rectifying element that has a turn-on voltage based on a threshold. The generated post-synaptic pulse is applied to a post-synaptic node of said synaptic device.

  • Patent number: 8681884
Abstract: In a method for generating a physical layer (PHY) data unit for transmission via a communication channel, a first set of modulation coding schemes (MCSs) and a second set of MCSs that correspond to a number of spatial streams and a number of encoders are provided. The first set of MCSs correspond to a first channel bandwidth and the second set of MCSs correspond to a second channel bandwidth, and the first set of MCSs is different than the second set of MCSs. An MCS is selected from the first set of MCSs when the PHY data unit is to be transmitted using a channel having the first channel bandwidth, and the MCS is selected from the second set of MCSs when the PHY data unit is to be transmitted using a channel having the second channel bandwidth. Information bits are encoded using the number of encoders and according to the selected MCS, and the encoded information bits are parsed into the number of spatial streams.
