  • Patent number: 8644611
Abstract: A method for text recognition includes generating a number of text hypotheses for an image, for example, using an HMM based approach using fixed-width analysis features. For each text hypothesis, one or more segmentations are generated and scored at the segmental level, for example, according to character or character group segments of the text hypothesis. In some embodiments, multiple alternative segmentations are considered for each text hypothesis. In some examples, scores determined in generating the text hypothesis and the segmental score are combined to select an overall text recognition of the image.

  • Publication number: 20140032156
Abstract: Methods and apparatuses to generate test patterns for detecting faults in an integrated circuit (IC) are described. During operation, the system receives a netlist and a layout for the IC. The system then generates a set of faults associated with the netlist to model a set of defects associated with the IC. Next, the system determines a set of likelihoods of occurrence for the set of faults based at least on a portion of the layout associated with each fault in the set of faults. The system subsequently generates a set of test patterns to target the set of faults, wherein the set of test patterns are generated based at least on the set of likelihoods of occurrence associated with the set of faults.

  • Publication number: 20140033205
Abstract: A method, system and computer program product for providing high availability to a hybrid application server environment containing non-Java® containers. Each hybrid application server in the cluster includes a Java® container and a non-Java® container hosting Java® and non-Java® applications, respectively. Upon detecting the non-Java® container becoming unavailable (failing), an object, such as an MBean, identifies and deactivates those Java® application(s) that are dependent on the non-Java® application(s) deployed in the unavailable non-Java® container using dependency information stored in an application framework. The deactivated Java® application(s) are marked as being unavailable. A routing agent continues to send requests to those Java® application(s) that are not marked as being unavailable within that hybrid application server containing the unavailable non-Java® container.

Abstract: In a method for generating a physical layer (PHY) data unit for transmission via a communication channel, information bits to be included in the PHY data unit are encoded using a forward error correction (FEC) encoder. Also, the information bits are encoded according to a block coding scheme, where m copies of each bit are included in the information bits, and one or more bits in the m copies of each bit are flipped. The information bits are mapped to a plurality of constellation symbols, and a plurality of orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) symbols are generated to include the plurality of constellation symbols. The PHY data unit is generated to include the plurality of OFDM symbols.

  • Patent number: 8638794
Abstract: Method and system for routing traffic across multiple network interfaces with use of VPN traffic selector as part of decision making, for example, in the context of a mobile communication network. A packet data unit (PDU) is generated in association with an application that can be selectively activated on a mobile device and carries a destination Internet protocol (IP) address representing a server that supports the application. A broker associated with the mobile device retrieves information relating to traffic selectors and determines whether the PDU is associated with an operator application or a non-operator application based on the destination IP address and the information relating to traffic selectors. The broker routes the PDU to one of the multiple network interfaces based on whether the PDU is from an operator application traffic and local policies.

  • Patent number: 8638711
Abstract: A system and method enable wireless user equipment (UE) to undergo a serving radio network subsystem (SRNS) relocation to a radio network controller (RNC) that does not support a fast dormancy feature while maintaining synchronization with the packet-switched domain of the core network. The UE is made aware of whether the target RNC supports the fast dormancy feature by way of an indication provided to the UE in a reconfiguration message provided by the source RNC, that is, the RNC to which the UE was connected prior to the SRNS relocation. In this way, the UE can behave accordingly whether or not the target RNC supports the fast dormancy feature.

  • Patent number: 8638875
Abstract: A system includes a transmitting module, a mapping module, and an updating module. The transmitting module transmits a first set of data streams using N subcarriers when a wireless device operates in a first mode. The transmitting module transmits a second set of data streams using M subcarriers when the device operates in a second mode. N and M are integers greater than or equal to 1. The mapping module maps the first set of data streams to a first set of antennas of the device based on a first set of mapping values and maps the second set of data streams to a second set of antennas of the device based on a second set of mapping values. The updating module generates the second set of mapping values based on the first set of mapping values when the device transitions from the first mode to the second mode.
