  • Patent number: 6266022
Abstract: The invention relates to a device (1) for determining the filling level in a container (4). Moreover, the invention also relates to a method for fastening an input coupling unit (9) on the antenna (7), the antenna (7) being used in the device (1) according to the invention. It is the object of the invention to provide overvoltage protection for an antenna (7), and a method for producing such an antenna (7). The object is achieved by virtue of the fact that the antenna (7) comprises at least two dielectric layers (12, 13). The first dielectric layer (12) has at least one cutout (15) for holding the input coupling unit (9). The second dielectric layer (13) bears an antenna structure (16) on the side facing the first dielectric layer (12) and has a conductive coating (17) with openings (18) on the side averted from the first dielectric layer (12). Contacts (19) are provided in the second dielectric layer (13) and the conductive layer (17) which connect the input coupling unit (9) to the conductive coating (17).

  • Patent number: 6259350
Abstract: With a sensor and method, it is possible for platinum resistor elements to be used advantageously as heating elements, temperature sensors, printed circuit traces, or as chemically resistant electron beam sensitive layers. To ensure a long-lasting adhesion of the platinum resistance layer to a dielectric substrate, even during exposure to temperatures which are elevated over ambient temperature and under dry and most atmospheric conditions, a thin adhesion layer of platinum silicide, for example, is deposited between the platinum resistance layer and the dielectric substrate. Resistor elements patterned from the platinum layer can advantageously be used in temperature sensors, mass flow sensors, chemical sensors, gas sensors, or humidity sensors.

  • Patent number: 6206158
Abstract: A device for a clutch which is subject to wear brought about by friction, especially for motor vehicles, for signaling that a wear limit has been reached. The clutch has a pressure plate which is connected, via tangential leaf springs, with a clutch housing so as to be fixed with respect to rotation relative to it, but so as to be axially displaceable, and by way of which a clutch disk provided with friction linings can be pressed against a flywheel of an internal combustion engine. The device has two structural component parts which can be clamped against one another, one of which structural component parts is arranged so as to be movable in the radial direction. A clamping of the structural component parts can be canceled when the wear limit is reached, wherein a movable structural component part springs into another radial position and remains there.

  • Patent number: 5612586
Abstract: A spark plug for internal combustion engines ensures the formation of two spark paths. These two spark paths are a pure air spark which jumps over from electrode to electrode, and a creepage spark which emerges from the central electrode, creeps along the insulator and then jumps over at the point at the smallest distance between the insulator and the earth electrode. The spark plug includes a cylindrical metal tube which forms a housing and in which the central electrode is arranged, surrounded centrally by an insulator. The earth electrodes mounted on the metal tube are partially bent so that an obtuse bending angle of the bent-over part with respect to the part of the earth electrode which extends in the direction of the rotationally symmetrical longitudinal axis is produced.

  • Patent number: 5577142
Abstract: In the case of the above devices, exact adjustment is very important; however, the devices ought to be very compact. It is not sufficient to utilize the silicon etching technique for the precision. The optical transmitting element (LD) is situated on a first carrier (T1), the optical receiving element (PD) and the transmission fiber (Fa) are situated on a third carrier. Provided in between them is a second carrier (T2) which is transparent to the wavelength of the light emitted by the transmitting element (LD). The carriers are structured by means of anisotropic etching in order to make possible the accommodation of the individual components. In addition, the carriers lie flat on one another and can thus be adjusted. A monitor diode (MD) is provided. Application of the arrangement in all transmission systems having optical waveguides.
