  • Patent number: 4851613
Abstract: The disclosed invention provides a flexible circuit board for use in surface mount technology. A polyaramid fiber reinforced resin provides a substrate for a copper cladding in which a circuit is formed. Overlaying the circuitry are a plurality of spaced insulating pads also reinforced with polyaramid fiber for dimensional stability. The spaces insulated pads define fold-lines along which the circuit may be folded, thereby providing a degree of flexibility required for flexible circuit applications.

  • Patent number: 4851531
Abstract: The present invention is directed to isocyanato isocyanurates prepared from diisocyanates which contain a sterically unhindered isocyanate group bound to a primary aliphatic carbon atom and a sterically hindered isocyanate group which is bound to a tertiary carbon atom forming part of a cycloaliphatic ring system, said diisocyanate having an NCO content of about 20 to 50% by weight. The present invention is further directed to a process for preparing these isocyanato isocyanurates by catalytic trimerization and the use of the isocyanato isocyanurates in a process for the production of polyisocyanate polyaddition products, preferably two-component polyurethane stoving lacquers.

  • Patent number: 4851011
Abstract: Concentrated aqueous dye formulations of water-soluble organic dyes are prepared by desalination and concentration of corresponding crude dye solutions by means of membrane separation processes. The effectiveness of the membrane separation process on the one hand and the stability of the dye formulations on the other hand is improved if dye solutions are subjected to cross-flow microfiltration before and/or after the membrane separation process and insoluble constituents are thus removed.

Abstract: A memory assignment method used with a disk file management system operating with a hard disk memory wherein data is stored in appropriate ones of a number of discrete files on the disk, and each file has an assigned amount of memory space exclusively associated therewith for the storage of data that should be in the file. The disk file management system keeps track of how much of the memory dedicated to the exclusive use of each file on the disk is yet available for the storage of data in each file, and also keeps track of how much of the memory on the disk is yet available for storage but has not yet been assigned to the exclusive use of any particular file.

  • Patent number: 4848209
Abstract: The apparatus, provided for undersea work, includes a barrel holder, a barrel for guiding a fastener intended to be driven by the gases of a propulsive charge and a percussion system for setting off the charge. The percussion system includes a striker, a bolt for cocking the striker, a tumbler for releasing the bolt, a trigger for actuating the tumbler and a chamber having a liquid intake orifice and a suction orifice. The tumbler is movable in the chamber and the trigger, when operated, closes the intake orifice, pushes back the liquid and moves the tumbler thus allowing percussion of the charge. Upon return of the trigger into the rest and rearming position, the suction orifice makes possible to compensate the leaks in the chamber and to use the apparatus again.

  • Patent number: 4849116
Abstract: The invention relates to a process and a plant for separating low density material, in particular plastics, in particular with a density of less than 1, from substrate mixtures, preferably from waste material fractions or presorted garbage fractions optionally containing essential portions of plastics or optionally presorted to paper/plastics fractions, wherein a gravity separation, in particular a sink-float separation, is carried out and the low density material phase, in particular polyolefin plastics, is withdrawn and optionally further processed as a separate fraction after drying.According to the invention, the separating effect and the cleaning of the low density material phase withdrawn are increased by carrying out at least one centrifugal separation, preferably in a hydrocyclone, in addition to at least one gravity separation, preferably in a sink-float basin.

  • Patent number: 4847729
Abstract: A spring-biased expansion band of metal bar members, attaches to a clasp member at one end and to a linear array of separately removeable and replaceable links at the other end to complete the bracelet. Each link has a pivot bar at one end and a complementary shaped aperture at the other end which engages the pivot bar upon an adjacent link. Size adjustment is obtained by user insertion or removal of one or more links from the band. The band and clasp member are electrically conductive at the bracelet's interior circumference, but electrically insulating at the bracelet's exterior circumference. • Patent number: 4847687
Abstract: A non-contacting sensing method and apparatus is disclosed for positioning a surface, such as the surface of a workpiece. A collimated light beam is projected through a lens having a known focal length onto the surface. Suitable means such as a television camera is positioned to receive light reflected from the surface and provide a series of video pulses, wherein the number of pulses produced per television frame scan corresponds to the size of the light image focused onto the photosensitive element within the camera. The position of the surface relative to the lens is varied until the number of pulses produced per scan is at a minimum.

  • Patent number: 4847577
Abstract: A security and alarm apparatus has a pulse width discriminator circuit which includes: a monostable multivibrator having a trigger input connected to a data input of a flip-flop, a data output connected to a clock input of the flip-flop, and a pulse width control input; and a pulse width control circuit connected to the pulse width control input which causes a pulse produced by the monostable multivibrator to have one width when the flip-flop is in a first state and a larger width when the flip-flop is in a second state, the flip-flop producing at its data output a signal which is a logic high voltage when the frequency of an input signal at the trigger input has exceeded a first predetermined frequency and until it thereafter falls below a second predetermined frequency less than said first predetermined frequency, and which is a logic low voltage when the input signal has fallen below the second predetermined frequency until the input signal again exceeds the first predetermined frequency.

  • Patent number: 4846119
Abstract: A pneumatically operated fuel injection pump has a work chamber which is partitioned by a membrane into a pulse chamber and a return chamber. The pulse chamber is charged with crankcase pressure from a two-stroke engine while a counterforce is built up in the return chamber which varies with rotational speed. A counterforce is developed by means of a precise pressure control in the return chamber which makes possible a highly precise injection adapted to rotational speed. For this purpose, the return chamber is connected with an adjusting volume via a throttled flow path. In addition, a leaf spring is mounted in the return chamber and is utilized as a return spring for the membrane.

  • Patent number: 4846642
Abstract: A gap seal formed between surfaces cooperating with each other such that operation free of engagement between the cooperating rotor and housing parts with respect to each other at relative speeds occurs subject to a roughened light-metal surface of one part cooperating with a covering of foamed synthetic material on the other part so as to assure gap seal therebetween rather than having any metal-to-metal and/or foamed-material to foamed-material interengagement. The foamed synthetic material covering of a surface preferably is made of polyurethane and the light-metal surface is made of aluminum roughened by sandblasting or etching. The lightweight metal part can have cavities and recess spaces therein to be filled with foamed material as well as other fins, ribs, and anchoring provision for holding the foamed synthetic material bodies in place.

  • Patent number: 4843880
Abstract: Disclosed is a method and probe for measuring the direction and force of gaseous of liquid flows in which two dynamic pressures are measured which are built up in two measuring chambers under the influence of the flow at a certain free-stream angle or a plurality of dynamic pressures are measured which build up in a plurality of measuring chambers under the influence of the flow at a certain free-stream angle, and wherein from the difference or the quotient of measured dynamic pressures or from absolutely or vectorially added measured values, the direction and/or the force of the flow is determined through mathematic processing. The measuring chamber openings are rectangular-shaped or slot-shaped, the center lines of a pair of measuring openings are positioned in a plane, and the arrangement of the measuring chamber openings relative to each other is fixed. The probe can also be used to measure the force of the flow.
