  • Patent number: 4964586
Abstract: A device for releasably holding a core or the like relative to a drive shaft passing therethrough includes at least two clamping elements located within the core. Guide pieces are fixed to a ring disc which surrounds a ring connected to the drive shaft. These guide pieces allow the clamping elements to move radially relative to the drive shaft and hold the core. A friction brake is provided to brake the ring relative to the ring disc. Also, a locking pawl arrangement is provided to selectively prevent the ring disc from rotating with the drive shaft. Accordingly, back slipping is prevented which undesirably loosens the core from the clamping elements.

  • Patent number: 4910150
Abstract: The present invention provides a test carrier for the determination of coagulation parameters, wherein it includes a test layer which contains glass fibres which are coated with polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinyl alcohol/vinyl acetate. The present invention also provides a process for the production of a glass fibre layer, wherein glass fibres are slurried in an excess of water with the addition of polyvinyl alcohol and a layer is formed according to a process conventional for the production of paper and dried at an elevated temperature.Furthermore, the present invention provides a process for the determination of coagulation parameters of blood, wherein it includes a process step in which blood is passed through a glass fibre layer which contains glass fibres which have been coated with polyvinyl alcohol or polyvinyl alcohol/vinyl acetate.

  • Patent number: 4374575
Abstract: A winding machine for winding up into rewind rolls a plurality of strips cut from an elongated web includes contact drums respectively bearing against the rewind rolls, the contact drums being independently arranged for independently exerting pressure against their rewind rolls for independently maintaining the necessary gap values between them and the periphery of the main drum about which the strips are partially looped upon entering the machine. Detecting devices associated with pairs of support arms provided for the contact drum operate a motor associated with each of the support arm pairs for each rewind roll for simultaneously rotating a pair of spindles on the support arms so as to pivot them away from the centerline of the machine when the extent of the aforementioned gap at each contact drum is reduced below a desired minimum.
