  • Patent number: 8485001
Abstract: A household appliance includes a housing having a door formed in a front panel thereof for accessing an interior of the housing, a tub disposed inside the housing, and a rotatable drum within the tub and having an axis of rotation, the rotatable drum for receiving laundry through the door. The tub includes a tub body, a heater pocket integrally formed in a lower portion of the tub body, the heater pocket forming a cavity in fluid communication with the drum, the heater pocket for at least partially surrounding a heating element for heating a fluid in the tub, and a fluid guide on an interior surface of the tub, the fluid guide one of guiding the fluid from the tub body into the heater pocket and disrupting a fluid ring formed in the tub body during rotation of the rotatable drum.

  • Patent number: 8448482
Abstract: A door hook for a door assembly of a household appliance, wherein the household appliance includes a housing having an opening for accessing an interior of the housing, a tub disposed inside the housing, the tub having a rotating drum therein for receiving laundry through the opening, the door assembly having a see-through portion for viewing into the tub, the door assembly being pivotably coupled to the housing and movable between an open position for accessing the opening of the housing and a closed position for closing the opening of the housing, the door hook including a base plate having a front face and a rear face, a striker extending from the front face of the base plate, and a locating feature extending from the rear face of the base plate.

  • Patent number: 7985934
Abstract: A front-loading clothes dryer, a horizontally pivotable door is secured in its closed position against accidentally opening by a latching closure. Moreover, the door is connected to a safety switch which cuts off or re-establishes power supply for the clothes dryer depending on whether the door is in the open or in the closed position. The object of the invention is to ensure that the switching function remains matched over the long term to the closure state of the door, as when the clothes dryer was manufactured. For that purpose, the functional elements for the latching closure and safety switch are arranged in direct proximity to each other but functionally separated into a component arranged on the door and a component arranged on the casing.

  • Publication number: 20110113832
Abstract: A washing machine contains a friction damper device for a washing unit comprising a tub, a washing drum which is rotationally mounted in the tub and a drive for the washing drum. The washing unit is supported in an elastic manner by at least one damper counter to a lower frame part of the housing. In order to prevent the vibratory behavior of the oscillating unit from being influenced above the rotational speed of the resonance, the friction in the damper above the rotational speed of the resonance can be reduced. As a result, at least one friction covering which interacts directly on a piston rod of the damper is pretensed by an energy store counter to the piston rod and can be displaced away from the piston rod by activating an actuator.

  • Patent number: 7503193
Abstract: A button comprising a core including a face defining at least one slot and a shaft extending outwardly from the face. The core is preferably made from a rigid material. An outer portion is connected to the core and at least partially surrounds the face. The outer portion is preferably made from a flexible resilient material. A relatively flat cap includes a base with a front side and a back side disposed opposite one another. A foil is connected to the front side and at least one rib projects outwardly from the back side. The rib extends into the slot to connect the cap to the core. The face can define three slots and the cap can include three ribs projecting outwardly from the back side. Each rib extends into a corresponding slot to connect the cap to the core.
