Patent number: 6346380Abstract: A group of oligonucleotides for the identification of sequences in a sample comprising human histamine H2 receptor DNA, cDNA or RNA originating from a tissue sample or body fluid is employed in the diagnosis and/or treatment of human neurological and psychiatric disorders, particularly schizophrenia, and diseases of other systems or organs of the human body. The oligonucleotides, suitable for use as primers for the amplification of DNA corresponding to a region of a human histamine H2 receptor, have nucleotide sequences selected from: 5′ACACCAGCCTGGATGTGA 3′(as listed in SEQ ID NO:12), 5′TCACATCCAGGCTGGTCT 3′ (as listed in SEQ ID NO:13), 5′ CAATCATACCACCTCTAA 3′ (as listed in SEQ ID NO:14), 5′ ACACAAACGCGGTGAAGT 3′(as listed in SEQ ID NO:15). Also described is a diagnostic kit comprising one or more of the above mentioned oligonucleotides.Type: GrantFiled: August 3, 1999Date of Patent: February 12, 2002Assignee: Unisheff Ventures LimitedInventors: Simon Wright, Paul Heath, Paul Orange, Ronald Carl Alan Pearson

Patent number: 6164479Abstract: A floating roof storage tank which includes a peripheral sealing ring of shoes distributed around the periphery of an internal floating roof within a storage tank. Spring loaded or otherwise resilient members with essentially level horizontal travel (without vertical travel) attached to the deck of the internal floating roof keep the peripheral sealing ring of shoes pressed against the tank wall and also keep the internal floating roof centered within the tank. The space between the peripheral sealing ring of shoes and the internal floating roof is covered by a flexible material that prevents product loss. Jamming of the resilient members between the tank shell and the relatively flexible rim of the internal floating roof is reduced or eliminated due to the level horizontal travel of the hanger-pushers and their horizontal mounting to the top of the deck. Vertical movement of the individual shoe segments over each other is also reduced or eliminated due to the level horizontal travel of the resilient members.Type: GrantFiled: December 15, 1998Date of Patent: December 26, 2000Assignee: Ultra Flota Corp.Inventor: Ronald Carl Kern

Patent number: 5871248Abstract: A robot gripper comprising a pair of gripper surfaces with flexible, non-elastic membranes disposed on each gripper surface respectively, these membranes being comprised of cubic cells filled with compressible fluid, so that when each gripper surface makes contact with the object to be lifted, they simultaneously compress and lift the object whereby the friction between the object and the gripper surfaces generates a shear force which distorts the membranes. As the compression and lifting forces are simultaneously increased, the distortion to the membranes will also increase until the pressure inside the cubic cells is large enough to provide sufficient friction force to lift the object.Type: GrantFiled: September 25, 1996Date of Patent: February 16, 1999Assignee: University of South FloridaInventors: O. Geoffrey Okogbaa, Reijo Olavi Hiltunen, Ronald Carl Petrus

Patent number: 5829292Abstract: An annular workpiece 6 is rolled between two oppositely disposed forming rolls 2, 4, and two oppositely disposed growth rolls 22 and 24 acting at right angles to the line of action of the forming rolls. The forming rolls 2, 4, are brought together to roll form the workpiece 6 to a wall thickness dependent upon its weight, and the advance of the growth control rolls 22, 24 is controlled to a position which is also dependent upon the weight of the workpiece 6.Type: GrantFiled: May 27, 1997Date of Patent: November 3, 1998Assignee: Formflo LimitedInventor: Ronald Carl Andriessen

Patent number: 4035897Abstract: Apparatus for inserting wires into the wire-receiving portions of terminals in an electrical connector housing comprises a wire-inserting press and a fixture means which is separate from the press and which can be mounted on the press during the inserting operation. The fixture means comprises a block-like member having wire-locating means and housing positioning means thereon arranged such that when the housing and wires are located on the fixture means, the wires will be in alignment with the terminals in the housing. When the fixture means and press are assembled to each other and the press ram is moved towards the fixture means, cooperative aligning pins and sockets on the fixture and on the press ram move into engagement with each other precisely to align the wires and the connector housing with the insertion punches on the press ram.Type: GrantFiled: June 7, 1976Date of Patent: July 19, 1977Assignee: AMP IncorporatedInventors: William Roderick Over, Ronald Carl Brehm

Patent number: 3992911Abstract: A method of roll forming an annular workpiece to a desired shape from a workpiece having dimensions within a tolerance range, in which the difference in weight between the workpiece and a nominally sized workpiece is determined and the workpiece is then roll formed to its desired shape by being squeezed between at least two rotating forming members which advance relatively towards one another to a fully advanced position to impress the desired shape into the workpiece followed by maintaining the forming members at their fully advanced position to complete the roll forming for a period of time known as the dwell time.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1975Date of Patent: November 23, 1976Assignee: Formflo LimitedInventors: Gordon Sidney Connell, Ronald Carl Andriessen

Patent number: 3992910Abstract: A method of rolling an initially annular workpiece between forming rolls in which after the forming rolls have been fully advanced they are retracted initially slowly for a predetermined distance. The forming rolls can then be further retracted at a greater speed. The slow retraction reduces the out of roundness of the finished rolled ring.Type: GrantFiled: July 21, 1975Date of Patent: November 23, 1976Assignee: Formflo LimitedInventors: Gordon Sidney Connell, Ronald Carl Andriessen
