  • Patent number: 9877881
Abstract: A fastening member has inboard and outboard ends, a panel region, an end region, and a stiffening element. The panel region is disposed adjacent to the inboard end and has first and second layers. The first and second layers are joined in a face-to-face orientation. The end region is disposed adjacent to the outboard end and has a fastening element zone and an intermediate zone. The intermediate zone is disposed between the fastening element zone and the panel region adjacent an interface between the panel and end regions. The stiffening element is disposed in the end region and has a stiffness of greater than about 200 N/m. A portion of the stiffening element is disposed between the first layer and the second layer and is joined to the first layer and the second layer. The portion is disposed adjacent to the interface between the panel region and the end region.

  • Patent number: 9867740
Abstract: An absorbent article comprises first and second substrates and one or more elastic elements disposed at least partially intermediate the substrates. The second substrate is attached to the first substrate and/or to portions of the elastic elements. The absorbent article comprises an adhesive having a first and second pattern of elements disposed on first substrate, and first and second texture zones. The first texture zone comprises a first portion of the substrates, a first portion of the elastic elements, and the first pattern of elements of the adhesive and forms a background pattern in the first portion of the substrates. The second texture zone comprises a second portion of the substrates, a second portion of the one or more elastic elements, and the second pattern of elements of the adhesive and forms a macro pattern in the second portion of the substrates.

  • Publication number: 20170172809
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to absorbent articles and methods for assembling absorbent articles with components having printed graphics with masked zones having alternatingly arranged printed regions and unprinted regions. Various substrates and/or components to be incorporated into manufactured absorbent articles include graphics with the masked zones positioned and/or printed in such a manner so as to functionally reduce noticeable visible results of imprecise and/or inconsistent manufacturing operations performed in areas where the graphics are located. In some configurations, substrates and/or components include graphics with masked zones positioned in regions that are subject to bonding, cutting, and/or folding transformations during the assembly process, such as for example, along inner edges of front and/or back belts and/or leg openings.

  • Publication number: 20170172816
Abstract: Absorbent articles herein may include components having graphics including unmasked and masked zones, wherein the masked zones are defined by alternating arranged printed and unprinted regions. The masked zones give the appearance that the graphics fade or gradually transition from areas of relatively high print intensities in the unmasked zones to areas of relatively low print intensities. In addition, the graphics may be printed with relatively constant print densities in both masked and unmasked zones, and thus, avoid many of the unintended negative effects and difficulties associated with printing graphics with faded zones of print intensities. As such, substrates and/or components to be incorporated into manufactured absorbent articles include graphics include masked zones that may be positioned and/or printed in such a manner so as to functionally reduce noticeable visible results of imprecise and/or inconsistent assembly operations performed in areas where the graphics are located.

  • Publication number: 20170027769
Abstract: Aspects of the methods according to the present disclosure relate to the fabrication of diaper pants wherein discrete chassis are advanced in a machine direction such that the longitudinal axis is parallel with the machine direction. Discrete lengths of elastic belt materials are then connected with the first waist region of a first advancing chassis and the second waist region of a second advancing chassis. The lengths of elastic belt materials are cut along the cross-direction between the discrete chassis forming a first elastic belt and a second elastic belt; the chassis are subsequently folded; and the first and second elastic belts disposed on the chassis are bonded together to create a discrete diaper pant. This apparatus and process configuration forms a continuous web of articles formed by intermittently spaced chassis and intermittently spaced elastic belts bridging the gap between the intermittently spaced chassis.

  • Publication number: 20160302976
Abstract: The present disclosure relates to absorbent articles and methods for assembling absorbent articles having a design including: a first graphic printed on a first component and a second graphic printed on a second component. During the assembly process, the first and second components are combined to form a discontinuous region devoid of printing and separating the first graphic from the second graphic. The discontinuous region extends between an end edge of the first graphic and an end edge of the second graphic and defines an imaginary continuous extension of an established direction of the first graphic to the second graphic. Thus, the discontinuous region helps to provide the appearance that the first and second graphics form a contiguous design while at the same time mitigating the need to precisely align the graphics on separated components to form a contiguous design during the assembly process.
