The method includes the step of: providing a headwear item having a crown that engages a wearer's head and a rim/bill projecting angularly away from the crown; providing a second item; attaching the second item to the rim/bill; separating the second item from the rim/bill; and wearing the second item with the second item separated from the headwear item on at least one of: a) the wearer's limb or hair; or b) a clothing item worn by the wearer.

Abstract: A headwear piece having a crown and a rim/bill projecting angularly away from the crown. The crown and rim/bill each has a plurality of components that are maintained together by visible stitching. The outside surface of the crown has an area, with a substantial portion of that area having a first color. A substantial portion of the area of at least one of upwardly and downwardly facing surfaces on the rim/bill has a second color that contrasts with the first color. At least a part of the visible stitching on the crown has substantially the second color. At least a part of the visible stitching on the rim/bill has substantially the first color.

Abstract: A headwear piece has a crown defining a receptacle for the head of a wearer and a rim projecting angularly away from the crown. The rim has a core layer that is made from at least one of an animal hide and a synthetic animal hide, and a second layer. The core layer has an upwardly facing surface and a downwardly facing surface and at least part of one of the upwardly facing surfaces and downwardly facing surfaces is covered by the second layer.

Abstract: The combination of a headwear piece, an accessory, and a plurality of discrete elements. The headwear piece has a crown defining an opening through which a wearer's head can project with the headwear piece in an operative position on the wearer's head. The crown has an inside surface with a portion for frictionally engaging a wearer's head with the headwear piece in the operative position and a first layer having an exposed outer surface. The accessory and plurality of discrete elements are magnetically attracted to each other through the first layer to releasably maintain the accessory in a stored state on the headwear piece. The plurality of discrete elements includes at least first and second discrete elements that are adjacent to each other so as to cooperatively cause a localized magnetic attractive force to be generated between the accessory and the first and second discrete elements.

Abstract: A headwear piece has a crown defining a surface for engaging a wearer's head and a rim projecting away from the crown. The crown surface has a variable effective diameter. The crown has a rope defined by a plurality of elongate elements each having an actual length and interconnected with each other with the rope in a first state so as to define a shorter effective length extending around at least a portion of the crown. The plurality of elongate elements are extendable by exerting a tensile lengthwise force on the rope to place the rope in a second state. The rope at least one of (a) defines at least a part of the crown surface and (b) bears against a wall that defines at least a part of the crown surface.

The first and second design pieces have a different appearance. The tensioning assembly has a first surface that bears against the thread extending away from the receptacle. At least one of the wall structure and tensioning assembly has a second surface. The thread extending away from the receptacle resides between the first and second surfaces so that the frictional force on the thread is generated between the first and second surfaces. At least one of the first and second surfaces is defined by a body that is bendable to thereby allow one of the first and second surfaces to be moved selectively towards and away from the other of the first and second surfaces.

Abstract: The combination of a first bobbin case assembly and a second bobbin case assembly. The first bobbin case assembly has a first wall structure, mountable operably upon a support and defining a first receptacle within which a first supply of a first thread is stored, and a first tensioning element having a circumference defined by a first surface. The first thread projects from the first receptacle and is wrapped at least partially around the circumference of the first tensioning element. A first frictional force of a first magnitude, resisting drawing of the first thread from the first receptacle, is generated between the first surface and the first thread so that a first draw tension is required to be applied to the first thread to draw the first thread from the first receptacle with the first bobbin assembly operably mounted on the support.
