  • Publication number: 20070022517
Abstract: A headwear piece having a crown and a rim/bill projecting angularly away from the crown. The crown and rim/bill each has a plurality of components that are maintained together by visible stitching. The outside surface of the crown has an area, with a substantial portion of that area having a first color. A substantial portion of the area of at least one of upwardly and downwardly facing surfaces on the rim/bill has a second color that contrasts with the first color. At least a part of the visible stitching on the crown has substantially the second color. At least a part of the visible stitching on the rim/bill has substantially the first color.

  • Patent number: 7140047
Abstract: The combination of a headwear piece, an accessory, and a plurality of discrete elements. The headwear piece has a crown defining an opening through which a wearer's head can project with the headwear piece in an operative position on the wearer's head. The crown has an inside surface with a portion for frictionally engaging a wearer's head with the headwear piece in the operative position and a first layer having an exposed outer surface. The accessory and plurality of discrete elements are magnetically attracted to each other through the first layer to releasably maintain the accessory in a stored state on the headwear piece. The plurality of discrete elements includes at least first and second discrete elements that are adjacent to each other so as to cooperatively cause a localized magnetic attractive force to be generated between the accessory and the first and second discrete elements.

  • Patent number: 7137149
Abstract: A headwear piece having a crown defining an opening for receiving a wearer's head with the headwear piece in an operative position on the wearer's head. The headwear piece has an exposed surface. Ornamentation is applied to the exposed surface of the headwear piece. The ornamentation has a substrate layer that is separate from and secured to the exposed surface of the headwear piece, and a design piece separately formed from and attached in relationship to the substrate layer. The substrate layer has a perimeter edge. The design piece has thread that is formed to produce at least a part of a viewable design. The design piece further has a perimeter edge. The substrate layer extends beyond the perimeter edge of the design piece to define a frame surface at least partially around the perimeter edge of the design piece.

  • Publication number: 20060225185
Abstract: A headwear piece has a crown defining a surface for engaging a wearer's head and a rim projecting away from the crown. The crown surface has a variable effective diameter. The crown has a rope defined by a plurality of elongate elements each having an actual length and interconnected with each other with the rope in a first state so as to define a shorter effective length extending around at least a portion of the crown. The plurality of elongate elements are extendable by exerting a tensile lengthwise force on the rope to place the rope in a second state. The rope at least one of (a) defines at least a part of the crown surface and (b) bears against a wall that defines at least a part of the crown surface.

  • Publication number: 20050145741
Abstract: A bobbin case assembly having a wall structure mountable upon a support, a bobbin for a supply of thread, and a tensioning element for engaging thread projecting from a supply of thread on the bobbin. The tensioning element has a length and a circumferential surface against which thread can be wrapped so that a frictional resistance force can be generated between the thread and circumferential surface that resists drawing of thread off of the supply. The tensioning element has a configuration that is capable of supporting a controlled wave pattern of thread wrapped against the circumferential surface.

  • Patent number: 6895879
Abstract: A bobbin case assembly having a wall structure mountable operably upon a support and defining a first receptacle for a supply of thread, and a tensioning assembly. The tensioning assembly has a first surface that bears against the thread. At least one of the wall structure and tensioning assembly has a second surface. The thread resides between the first and second surfaces through which the frictional force on the thread is generated. A body is bendable to so that one of the first and second surfaces is movable selectively towards and away from the other. A flexing portion on the body is bendable relative to mounting portion and has first and second flexing regions. The second flexing region is more flexible relative to the first flexing region than the first flexing region is flexible relative to the mounting portion. The first surface is on the second flexing region.

  • Publication number: 20050092222
Abstract: A bobbin case assembly having a wall structure mountable operably upon a support and defining a first receptacle within which a supply of thread is stored, and a tensioning assembly for exerting a frictional force on the thread extending away from the receptacle to thereby resist drawing of the thread out of the receptacle. The tensioning assembly has a first surface that bears against the thread extending away from the receptacle. At least one of the wall structure and tensioning assembly has a second surface. The thread extending away from the receptacle resides between the first and second surfaces so that the frictional force on the thread is generated between the first and second surfaces. At least one of the first and second surfaces is defined by a body that is bendable to thereby allow one of the first and second surfaces to be moved selectively towards and away from the other of the first and second surfaces.

  • Publication number: 20050081768
Abstract: The combination of a first bobbin case assembly and a second bobbin case assembly. The first bobbin case assembly has a first wall structure, mountable operably upon a support and defining a first receptacle within which a first supply of a first thread is stored, and a first tensioning element having a circumference defined by a first surface. The first thread projects from the first receptacle and is wrapped at least partially around the circumference of the first tensioning element. A first frictional force of a first magnitude, resisting drawing of the first thread from the first receptacle, is generated between the first surface and the first thread so that a first draw tension is required to be applied to the first thread to draw the first thread from the first receptacle with the first bobbin assembly operably mounted on the support.
