  • Publication number: 20050034210
Abstract: The combination of a headwear piece, an accessory, and a plurality of discrete elements. The headwear piece has a crown defining an opening through which a wearer's head can project with the headwear piece in an operative position on the wearer's head. The crown has an inside surface with a portion for frictionally engaging a wearer's head with the headwear piece in the operative position and a first layer having an exposed outer surface. The accessory and plurality of discrete elements are magnetically attracted to each other through the first layer to releasably maintain the accessory in a stored state on the headwear piece. The plurality of discrete elements includes at least first and second discrete elements that are adjacent to each other so as to cooperatively cause a localized magnetic attractive force to be generated between the accessory and the first and second discrete elements.

  • Publication number: 20040245364
Abstract: The combination of a bobbin assembly and a support for the bobbin assembly. The bobbin assembly has a core around which a supply of thread can be wrapped. The core has a rotational axis. The bobbin assembly further has a first flange with first and second oppositely facing surfaces, with the first surface bounding a storage space for thread wrapped around the core. The support allows the bobbin assembly to rotate around the rotational axis. The support has a third surface facing the second surface with the bobbin assembly operatively connected to the support. The bobbin assembly and support are magnetically attracted to each other with a force of a first magnitude with the bobbin assembly and support in a first state. The force resists rotation of the bobbin assembly around the rotational axis.

  • Publication number: 20040178292
Abstract: A method of controlling draw tension on thread wrapped around a bobbin that is mounted operatively on a case for movement relative to the case around an axis. The method includes the steps of: predetermining a desired thread draw tension to be achieved with the bobbin operatively mounted on a case using a predetermined mounting process; and, before operatively mounting the bobbin on the case, selectively controlling the at least one parameter of at least one of the thread and bobbin in a correlative manner to the desired thread draw tension with the bobbin operatively mounted on a case using the predetermined mounting process.

  • Publication number: 20040163157
Abstract: A headwear piece having a crown with a peripheral wall which extends around the head of a wearer. The crown has a front, a rear, and a top, and a bottom. The peripheral wall has a front wall portion that projects upwardly to define a forwardly facing surface and is contiguous with a top wall portion that defines an upwardly facing surface having a substantial area to protect a wearer's head. The crown further has first and second spaced legs which project rearwardly and cooperatively and compressibly capture a wearer's head to maintain the headwear piece in an operative position on a wearer's head.

Abstract: The combination of a bobbin assembly and a support for the bobbin assembly. The bobbin assembly has a core around which a supply of thread can be wrapped. The core has a rotational axis. The bobbin assembly further has a first flange with first and second oppositely facing surfaces. The first surface bounds a storage space for thread wrapped around the core. The first flange has at least one projection from the second surface. The support has a third surface facing the second surface and bearing against the at least one projection for limiting movement of the spool in a direction substantially parallel to the rotational axis with the bobbin assembly operatively connected to the support.

  • Patent number: 6588021
Abstract: A headwear piece having a crown and a brim/visor projecting away from the crown. The crown has a wall with a surface for engaging a wearer's head to maintain the headwear piece in an operative position on a wearer's head. The brim/visor has an exposed upwardly facing surface, an exposed downwardly facing surface, and an exposed edge between the upwardly and downwardly facing surfaces. The edge has a thickness between the upwardly and downwardly facing surfaces. The edge has a first layer that extends over at least one-fourth of the thickness of the edge, less than the full thickness of the edge, and continuously from the edge to define a part of one of the upwardly and downwardly facing surfaces.

The bobbin assembly has a core around which a supply of thread can be wrapped and having a rotational axis, a first flange having first and second oppositely facing surfaces with the first surface bounding a storage space for thread wrapped around the core, and a magnetic element. The support has a third surface with a first metal material facing the second surface with the bobbin assembly operatively connected to the support and sufficiently close to the magnetic element so that a magnetic field is generated between the magnetic element and first metal material that tends to resists movement of the bobbin assembly relative to the support around the rotational axis of the core.
