  • Patent number: 5122079
Abstract: A multiple conductor cable connector (1) comprising a termination cover (4) and a housing (2). The termination cover (4) includes arms (19) at opposite ends thereof projecting substantially perpendicular to a cable engaging face (18). The housing (2) includes a cable receiving face (5) and towers (8) projecting from opposite ends of the housing (2) substantially perpendicular to the cable receiving face (5). Each tower (8) has a bulk section (9) with a latching surface (12) cooperable with latching means of the corresponding arm (19) for defining a pre-termination position and for securing the termination cover (4) to the housing (2) in the pre-termination position. Each tower (8) further includes an engaging ramp (16) and each arm (19) has an engaging ramp (26). The engaging ramps (16, 26) are biased against each other to further define the pre-termination position.

  • Patent number: 5064383
Abstract: A multiple conductor cable connector (1) is disclosed including a metallic clip (4) which latches a termination cover (5) and a housing (2). A projecting tab (18), a latch (20) and concave inner surfaces of the clip (4) grasp a handle (14) of the termination cover (5) to secure it to the clip (4). The termination cover (5) is recessed (15) to allow the clip tab (18) to fit flush with a rear surface (13) of the termination cover (5). Convex outer surfaces of sleeves (19) of the clip (4) cooperate with concave inner surfaces of channels (8) of opposed paired towers (7) on the housing (2) to guide the termination cover (5) towards the housing (2). Use of the clip (4) within the channels (8) provides a rigid structure for the connector (1), unaffected by normal handling.

  • Patent number: 5037323
Abstract: There is disclosed an alignment and blind mate assist shroud 22,22' having a body section securable to a shrouded header 20,20' and an extension section adapted to extend beyond the shrouded header 20,20'. The body section has means cooperable with the shrouded header for securing the shroud 22,22' to the shrouded header 20,20'. The extension section has guide means 112,114 which taper inwardly toward the walls 30,32,34,36 for guiding a complementary connector into the shrouded header 20,20'.

  • Patent number: 4685761
Abstract: An electrical contact assembly comprises a wire barrel onto which an electrical conductor is connected along with a receptacle contact member covered by a stamped and formed hood member. A C-shaped section of the receptacle is frictionally secured in a bore of the wire barrel with the hood member surrounding the receptacle and being crimped onto the wire barrel. The hood has a beveled lead-in entrance to facilitate insertion of a pin contact member into electrical connection with the receptacle contact member at a substantially low insertion force.

  • Patent number: 4509258
Abstract: A connector centering device comprises a plate having a projection along which a centering member extends. Legs extend outwardly from the projection and include openings to receive a small number of electrical contacts of an electrical connector therein. The legs with the electrical contacts in the openings and the projection in the shell with the centering member engaging the walls of the shell centers the electrical connector in the opening whereupon the connector is secured in position.
