  • Publication number: 20110223904
Abstract: A device (110) receives a radio link control (RLC) protocol data unit (PDU) (740) or service data unit (SDU) (760) to be segmented, defines a padding threshold (840) for a segmentation mechanism, and determines a padding ratio (850) after enhanced dedicated channel transport format combination (ETFC) selection (730). The device selects a first transport block (960) and a second transport block (970) associated with the RLC PDU/SDU (740/760) when the padding ratio (850) is greater than or equal to the padding threshold (840), and generates a modified segmentation of the RLC PDU/SDU (740/760) based on the first and second transport blocks (960/970) when a padding ratio (RTB) associated with the first and second transport blocks (960/970) is less than the padding threshold (840) and a size ratio (STB) associated with the first and second transport blocks (960/970) is within a size threshold (980).

  • Publication number: 20110216925
Abstract: Various embodiments use combinations of different methods for creating virtual surround. Some of the methods used in various embodiments include: dipole beamforming, multi-stage arrays, transducer directionality, and enclosure shading. In general, each of these methods may operate over a specific frequency band in various embodiments. The use of multiple methods to create virtual sound can increase the virtual sound effect and better maintain sound quality compared to the use of a single method for creating virtual surround. Each method used to create virtual surround can be optimized for a specific system configuration based on factors such as the physical set-up of the transducers, the size and shape of the enclosure, and the input signal configuration. Various embodiments allow for an intensity difference to be created for a listener across a wide range of frequencies in order to produce constant directionality.

  • Publication number: 20110182248
Abstract: A basic idea is to determine scheduling priorities of users based on information representative of experienced end-to-end quality of user communication in an overall network, and allocate communication resources in a wireless sub-network (100; 200) of the overall network to users based on the determined scheduling priorities. For example, the sub-network (100; 200) may be a wireless access network within an overall network, and end-to-end quality information related to the overall network may then be taken into account in the local scheduling procedure in the access network.

  • Publication number: 20100323746
Abstract: In a cellular radio system Transmission Power Control (TPC) power offset is set so that it is adjusted for each transmitting radio base station based on available relevant measurements that reflect the quality of the downlink channel carrying the uplink TPC command whereby an improved performance is obtained. The TPC power offset can for example be based on an estimated uplink Dedicated Physical Control CHannel (DPCCH) SINR, the number of TPC “up” and the number of TPC “down” sent by a radio base station and aggregated UE receiver power or UE transmit power over a number N slots. Also a mobile station used in a cellular radio system supporting soft handover may be adapted to apply TPC discarding thresholds based on the number and the quality of simultaneously received TPC commands.
