  • Publication number: 20030124258
Abstract: A microwave susceptible insulated packaging material includes a thermal insulating layer, which may be a fiberfill batt. The insulating layer is laminated to at least one layer of a co-extruded film which has been coated on one surface with a microwave susceptible material, such as aluminum or aluminum coated with a food-safe contacting polymer sealant. The packaging material can be used to form a container, such as a pouch, or as a label or as a lining for a container. The packaging material may be coated also with a printable coating material.

  • Publication number: 20030124280
Abstract: Multilayer shaped articles, including films, preforms and containers, and method for forming the same, having at least one layer of poly(1,3-propylene 2,6-naphthalate) and at least one layer of poly(ethylene terephthalate). Poly(1,3-propylene 2,6-naphthalate) can be co-stretched with poly(ethylene terephthalate) to form oriented multilayer structures which have superior barrier properties. The poly(1,3-propylene 2,6-naphthalate) and poly(ethylene terephthalate) layers have good adhesion and do not require an adhesive tie layer.

  • Publication number: 20030003249
Abstract: An insulating label stock includes a thermal insulating layer, which may a fiberfill batt. The batt is laminated to at least one layer of film, paper or fabric. The label stock can be wrapped around a container, such as a can, bottle or pouch. The label stock may be coated with a coating material so that it is printable, thus imparting both insulating properties and print capability to a container.

  • Patent number: 5661925
Abstract: The invention relates to an improved tree guard for protecting the bark of young trees and shrubs from mechanical damage caused by landscaping and lawn maintenance equipment. The tree guard includes at least one generally rectangular, flexible sheet which may be temporarily or permanently bent into a cylindrical shape sufficiently large to encircle a tree at ground level. Longitudinal releasable locking strips are provided to attach the ends of the sheet together to hold the sheet in the desired shape. The locking strips incorporate a tab and groove attachment system with each tab and groove having retaining beads running therealong to hold each tab within a cooperating groove. Preferably, the tab and groove of each locking strip are oriented perpendicularly to the plane of the sheet at the point of attachment of the strip to the sheet. The cooperating strips may be identical in shape so that the tab of one fits into the groove of another and vice versa.

  • Patent number: 4504575
Abstract: Novel heat-developable (photothermographic) films incorporate a silver alkyl sulfonate as a physical developer, and an organic base to neutralize acidity from the silver sulfonate. Preferably a heat-developable film is produced by coalescing a coating composition comprising a silver alkyl sulfonate, a silver halide emulsion as photocatalyst, a reducing agent, and an aqueous latex dispersion.

  • Patent number: 4501896
Abstract: Novel nitrobenzyl compounds are incorporated into a photographic emulsion or developer for controlled release of development/image modifier compounds. This occurs imagewise only after developer oxidation products have been formed in the course of the development process. For example, nitrobenzyl-masked phenylmercaptotetrazole (PMT), incorporated into a silver halide emulsion, reacts with developer oxidation products via an electron transfer mechanism to release the potent development restrainer PMT.
