  • Patent number: 6732431
Abstract: The disclosure relates to a method of producing an electrical connection to a sheet metal part, in particular to a sheet metal part having a non-conductive or poorly conductive protective layer, using a hollow fastener element which is mounted by means of the riveting or pierce riveting process to the sheet metal part, wherein a terminal lug is attached by means of a screw to the hollow fastener element, i.e. to the sheet metal part. The method is characterized in that the screw which is screwed into the hollow attachment element penetrates the sheet metal part and forms or reforms a thread in the sheet metal part. The disclosure furthermore relates to a component assembly which is produced in accordance with the said method.

  • Patent number: 6651300
Abstract: A clenching device for generating a clenching connection between a first workpiece and a second workpiece using a plunger which is movable from above into a recess of a die, wherein a peripheral wall of the recess has stationary wall sections which extend essentially parallel to a pressure direction. The peripheral wall of the recess has between the stationary wall sections movable wall sections which are arranged on levers. The levers are movable by pressures from above into a working position and are securable therein and from undercut areas and are movable by movement of the workpieces after the workpieces have been jointed in the upward direction into a release position in which the undercut areas are completely released.

  • Patent number: 6407237
Abstract: The bifunctional compound N-4-carboxyphenyl-3-(6-oxohydropurin-9-yl) propanamide monopotassium salt occurs in a number of crystal forms which differ in their stability. Of these forms, the most stable is designated Type I, which is a monopotassium salt monohydrate in which the water is held as water of crystallization. Other crystalline forms, designated Type II and Type III, convert to Type I. Methods are disclosed for the synthesis of Type I and for the conversion of Type II or Type III to Type I.

  • Patent number: 6365847
Abstract: In a weight sensor operating according to the principle of electromagnetic force compensation, the essential parts are fabricated from a single block of material. The weight sensor has a load receiver (10), which is connected through an upper guide (12) and a lower (11) guide to the housing-integral base body (1) of the material block. The weight sensor also has several force-reduction translating levers (21,22; 24, 25,25′; 27,27′,28) and coupling elements (18,18′, 23, 26,26′) between the translating levers (21, 22; 24 ,25,25′; 27,27′,28). The housing-integral base body (1) projects in the direction of the load receiver (10), extends into the space between the two guides (11, 12) and forms a support point for the first translating lever (21, 22). The weight sensor is equipped with a coil (34), which is fastened at the longer lever arm (28) of the last translating lever (27,27′,28,29,29′) and is situated in the magnetic field of a permanent magnet.

  • Patent number: 6292721
Abstract: In order to provide the pilots with a display or a map of the terrain below the aircraft, a display is generated on a cockpit display, such as a weather radar, of the contours of the terrain below the aircraft. The terrain contour display is generated from aircraft position information, a terrain data base, and a terrain awareness envelope defined by awareness boundaries. Terrain contours are depicted with the highest terrain within the envelope colored red, high intermediate terrain contours in yellow with varying dot densities, low intermediate terrain contours in green with varying dot densities, and the lowest terrain in black. The green contours can be overwritten with a low density yellow based on a pre-caution envelope which extends certain of the awareness boundaries to provide notice to a pilot of upcoming cautions.

  • Patent number: 6053033
Abstract: An apparatus for determining the position of the center of gravity of a test body with a test-body receiving plate supported on at least two weighing systems with short displacement in which device the position of the center of gravity is calculated from the particular bearing forces on the weighing systems that the connection between the test-body receiving plate (2) and the weighing systems (12, 13) takes place by means of coupling elements (22, 23) which are permanently connected by their one end to the test-body receiving plate (2), which are connected permanently by their other end to a weighing system (12, 13) and which are designed to be elastically flexible by means of at least one thin area (33, 34) defining a horizontal axis of rotation. This avoids an undefined introduction of force possibly overlaid by frictional forces and frictional moments into the weighing systems and thus increases the measuring accuracy.
