  • Patent number: 5322982
Abstract: The present invention relates to a fusible switch for use in a multiphase circuit. The switch includes an operating mechanism which is secured to the enclosure of the switch and provides for a handle to operate the opening and closing of switch contacts. Movement of the handle stores energy in the operating mechanism which is subsequently released in a quick motion just as the switch contact is to be opened or closed. The switch also provides for heat sinks and means for venting the enclosure to dissipate the heat created from the higher voltage and greater current density carried by this improved switch.

  • Patent number: 4789919
Abstract: An assembly supporting a plug-on switch unit on a mounting pan pivotally supported within a unit enclosure of an electrical control center and movable between a first position in which the plug-on jaws of the switch unit are connected to respective bus bars within the motor control center and a second position in which the plug-on jaws are spaced away from the bus bars. The assembly includes a handle operator movable between a first position indicating that the switch unit is in an "OFF" condition and a second position indicating that the switch unit is in an "ON" condition. Interlock features are provided to prevent movement of the mounting pan from its first position to its second position unless the handle operator is in its first position and also to prevent removal of the unit enclosure from the motor control center unless the mounting pan is in its second position.

  • Patent number: 4194100
Abstract: The following specification describes a circuit breaker enclosure having a cover, which is latched closed by spring biased latch handles. The handles and cover move in response to gas pressure for relieving the pressure generated on tripping of the circuit breaker. The latch handles are arranged to point outwardly of the enclosure, when open, to provide a clear visual indication of their being open. The circuit breaker handle and enclosure handle are directly engaged with a common pivot pin for synchronous movement to enable the enclosure handle to indicate the trip condition of the breaker. When the cover is open, the handles are interlocked against movement to an ON position by a biased pivotable interlock plate. The cover in turn is latched closed through the interlock plate and a breaker handle plate, when the circuit breaker enclosure handles are in the ON position. A pair of spaced edge projections on the enclosure wall engage the cover sealing gasket to avoid a permanent compression set in the gasket.
