  • Patent number: 11333904
Abstract: A case for an eyewear device having a conductive interface includes a housing that receives the eyewear device. A multi-purpose interface, supported by the housing, includes at least one contact arranged to couple with the conductive interface of the eyewear device when the housing receives the eyewear device. Circuitry is coupled to the at least one contact and includes a processor that detects a connection of the conductive interface of the eyewear device to the multi-purpose interface of the case. The processor performs a charging process during a charge state of the case in which an electrical charge is provided at the multi-purpose interface of the case to the eyewear device. • Publication number: 20220123573
Abstract: A charging cable configured to obtain power from different power supply devices for delivery to a chargeable electronic device, and to techniques and equipment to enable the charging cable to identify current limitation of the connected power supply device and to enforce that current limit via the charging cable. The charging cable has a logic circuit coupled to signal pins to detect a signal indicating a power limitation of the power supply device. The logic circuit controls a current limiter connected in the power delivery bus of the charging cable to limit current flowing through the charging cable.

  • Publication number: 20220109230
Abstract: An eyewear device has an antenna system having at least one element which contributes to wireless signal transmission, and which is thermally connected to a heat-generating electronic component of the eyewear device to serve as a heat sink for the electronic component. A driven antenna element and/or a plurality of PCB extenders electrically connected to a PCB ground plane can thus be employed for both signal transmission and heat management.

  • Publication number: 20220057631
Abstract: Eyewear having an optical waveguide communicating infrared light from a remote infrared emitter in the eyewear to an optical output coupler that uniformly illuminates an eye for tracking eye movement of a user. An optical input coupler couples a light beam emitted by the remote infrared emitter into the waveguide. The remote infrared emitter simplifies industrial design and is a single light source. The remote infrared emitter is not in a peripheral vision of a user's eye and improves a cosmetic impact.

  • Publication number: 20220039011
Abstract: Systems and methods for device handshaking are described. Embodiments for client device and associated wearable device initiated handshaking are described. In certain embodiments, a device such as wearable camera eyeglasses having both high-speed wireless circuitry and low-power wireless circuitry communicates with a client device. The low-power wireless circuitry is used for signaling and to manage power on handshaking for the high-speed circuitry in order to reduce power consumption. An analysis of a high-speed connection status may be performed by a client device, and used to conserve power at the glasses with signaling from the client device to indicate when the high-speed circuitry of the glasses should be powered on.

  • Publication number: 20220038622
Abstract: System, methods, devices, and instructions are described for fast boot of a processor as part of camera operation. In some embodiments, in response to a camera input, a digital signal processor (DSP) of a device is booted using a first set of instructions. Capture of image sensor data is initiated using the first set of instructions at the DSP. The DSP then receives a second set of instructions and the DSP is programmed using the second set of instructions after at least a first frame of the image sensor data is stored in a memory of the device. The first frame of the image sensor data is processed using the DSP as programmed by the second set of instructions. In some embodiments, the first set of instructions includes only instructions for setting camera sensor values, and the second set of instructions includes instructions for processing raw sensor data into formatted image files.

  • Publication number: 20210399405
Abstract: An antenna system comprises a combination of a loop antenna and a non-loop antenna. The loop antenna and the non-loop antenna is connected in common to a transceiver mechanism or signal feed mechanism. The non-loop antenna is in some embodiments provided by a dipole conductor. An eye-wear device incorporates the antenna system, a loop conductor and a dipole conductor of the antenna system being integrated in a body of the eyewear device. The loop conductor may be provided by a lens ring that extends around a lens held by the body. The lens ring may serve both as loop conductor and as a lens retention mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20210390882
Abstract: Eyewear with camera-based compensation that improves the user experience of eyewear devices, including for user's having partial blindness or complete blindness. The camera-based compensation uses eyewear cameras and an algorithm to detect geometric features of physical objects, such as edges. An alert is generated when a physical object is detected, such as an aural alert, that may indicate the nearby presence of the physical object, the distance of the object from the eyewear, and the type of object. This type of geometric detection uses less processing power, thus extending battery life.
