  • Publication number: 20130189187
Abstract: Compositions and methods are disclosed for evaluating a subject's vasculature integrity, for differentiating between a malignant lesion and a benign lesion, for evaluating the accessibility of a tumor to nano-sized therapeutics, for treating tumors, and for live or real time monitoring of a nano-probe's biodistribution.
    Type: Application
    Filed: December 17, 2012
    Publication date: July 25, 2013
Inventors: Ananth Annapragada, Ravi V. Bellamkonda, Efstathios Karathanasis, Russell M. Lebovitz
  • Patent number: 8389582
Abstract: Tissue solubilizing compositions are provided. The compositions comprise 3-(decyl dimethyl ammonio) propane sulfonate and polyethylene glycol dodecyl ether, such as tetraethylene glycol dodecyl ether. The compositions may be useful to solubilize tissue, including skin, mucosal membrane, and other tissue. The compositions may be further useful to preserve and recover analytes contained within the solubilized skin, mucosal membrane, and other tissue.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 27, 2011
Date of Patent: March 5, 2013
Inventors: Samir Mitragotri, Sumit Paliwal, Makoto Ogura, Russell M. Lebovitz

  • Publication number: 20120253238
Abstract: Solubilizing compositions are provided. The compositions comprise at least one zwitterionic surfactant and at least one nonionic surfactant. In one embodiment, the compositions may be useful for solubilizing and remodeling and/or removing tissue on or beneath a patient's skin, optionally in conjunction with the application of energy to a region of interest on the skin. In one embodiment, at least one analyte may be collected and analyzed from the solubilized tissue.
    Type: Application
    Filed: May 16, 2012
    Publication date: October 4, 2012
Inventors: Samir Mitragotri, Russell M. Lebovitz, Beyeong Hee Hwang
  • Publication number: 20120003159
Abstract: Examples of compositions of liposomes and methods of making the same containing high concentrations of contrast-enhancing agents for computed tomography are provided. Example compositions of such liposomes, when administered to a subject, provide for increased contrast of extended duration, as measured by computed tomography, in the bloodstream and other tissues of the subject. Also provided are example methods for making the liposomes stable, that is, resistant to leakage of the contrast-enhancing agents, including the extrusion of the liposomes at high pressures and at high flow rates per total pore area of the extrusion filters.
