  • Patent number: 6019261
Abstract: A ship-on garment hanger of the offset clamp type having ramp means on the hanger body to prevent dislodgement of a garment from the hanger by outwardly directly dislodging forces and end shields on the outside edges of the clamps to prevent dislodgement of a garment from the hanger by inwardly directed dislodging forces, the hanger being nestable with similar hangers to maximize shipping space and providing secure gripping force to a garment suspended therefrom despite the non-co-terminous configuration of the clamps.

  • Patent number: 5934525
Abstract: A garment hanger is provided with an elongated body member having linear surfaces so that clamp assemblies may be slid, by hand applied pressure, along the body member to desired locations, thereby providing a garment hanger of infinitely adjustable width within its working range and thus reducing the number of stockkeeping units to one, the hanger and clamp assemblies being so contoured that the clamp assemblies may be easily slid along the body member, the components being so contoured that the clamp assemblies always hang vertically, thus always presenting an impression of a neat, uncluttered appearance which makes a maximum favorable impression on the eye of a potential purchaser.

  • Patent number: 5915605
Abstract: An improved clamp-style garment hanger is provided. The hanger provides two brackets disposed on a crossbar on opposing sides of a hook. The lateral positions of the brackets are adjustable. The brackets have a garment clamp rotatably mounted on a horizontal shaft that extends between opposed side members disposed at a lower portion of the brackets. A spring-clip biases the garment engaging surfaces of opposed jaws of the clamps together and keeps the clamps engaged on the horizontal shaft of the brackets. The brackets include members that slidably engage the crossbar and provide a frictional engagement that resists bracket/clamp creep under the weight of a heavy garment. The front and rear surfaces of the crossbar also include channels which have an inner surface, an inner end and an outer end. Protruding ridges are formed on the inner surfaces of front members and rear members of each bracket such that the ridges can engage the inner surface of the channels when the bracket is assembled on the crossbar.

  • Patent number: 5802677
Abstract: A bag closure clip including a pair of opposing T-shaped clip members held in pivotal engagement by a U-shaped metal spring. Each clip member includes a jaw, a handle, and a fulcrum. As the handles are squeezed toward each other, the jaws open to allow a bag, such as for snack food or cereal, to be inserted between the jaws. When the handles are released, the spring forces the jaws towards each other to grip the bag and hold it closed. The U-shaped spring is fitted over the fulcrum and is confined to the space between the clip members so that the outwardly facing surfaces of the clip members are substantially uninterrupted.

  • Patent number: 5775575
Abstract: A tote box intended for use in very confined locations such as under the counter of the cashier station in a retail clothing establishment, the box having four flaps, each of which has a tab formed in the center of the edge of the flap. Each wall to which the flap is attached has a gripping aperture into which the tab carried by the flap may be inserted while the box is in use. In addition, a bend line provided between the flap-wall junction and the tab means enables the portion of the flap containing the tab means to be easily inserted into the gripping aperture. Further, a slot in each of two opposing end walls functions to receive and restrain the exterior flap of the two flanking flaps.

  • Patent number: 5613630
Abstract: An injection molded plastic hanger including an upper hanger member and a lower hanger member having a loop segment by which to hang from the upper hanger member. The loop segment is "closed" by the overlapping placement of two fingerlike segments extending from opposite ends of the loop. The two segments are held together in the proper position by a thin film of plastic which is located between them. The overlapping design of the fingerlike segments alleviates the formation of any weld lines within the loop segment which are substantially perpendicular to the tensile forces which are imposed upon the loop segment as the hanger is used as intended.

  • Patent number: 5584421
Abstract: A garment hanger which can be manufactured from inexpensive materials on a mass production basis which is extendable and contractible as many times as desired by the user throughout its useful life by a camming system formed by the interaction of cam drivers on each of two arms which engage with a cam follower carried in a central housing, the components being quickly and easily assembled but, when assembled, virtually impossible to disassemble.

  • Patent number: 5524801
Abstract: A combination garment hanger, garment size indicating system and method of installing the garment size indicating system is provided in the form of a garment hanger equipped with a tab-holding section that accommodates a size-indicating tab. The size-indicating tab is provided in stick or coil form for easy installation. Once the size-indicating tab is inserted into the tab-holding section, it is substantially unremovable without the use of a pronged or otherwise sharp tab-removing tool. Any removal of the tab from the tab-holding section will substantially damage the tab and render it useless. The tab and method of installing the tabs is ergonomically designed to reduce the likelihood of carpal tunnel syndrome in assembly-line workers charged with the task of installing the tabs on the garment hangers.

  • Patent number: 5477995
Abstract: An applicator is provided for the installation of size-indicating tabs on garment hangers. The applicator facilitates the installation of small, non-reusable, child-proof size-indicating tabs on garment hanger specially equipped to accommodate the tabs. The applicator includes a tube-like structure with a tapered outlet and a means for advancing a stick or coil of tabs forward in the tube. One preferred applicator includes multiple tubes attached to one another in a side-by-side fashion so that the operator may choose between a small, medium, large and extra-large size-indicating tabs.

  • Patent number: 5449099
Abstract: A combination garment hanger that is equipped for accommodating a child-proof size-indicating tab and a tool for removing said child-proof size-indicating tab from the said garment hanger is provided. The improved system enables an assembly-line worker to quickly and easily remove a child-proof tab from a garment hanger when a tab indicating the incorrect size is mistakenly applied to a garment hanger. The tool quickly and easily pries the tab off of the garment hanger so that a correct size-indicating tab may be applied to the hanger. The tab-holding section of the garment hanger is specially designed to accommodate the tool without compromising the child-proof qualities of the hanger and tab.

  • Patent number: 5398854
Abstract: An improved plastic, clamp-style garment hanger is provided. The hanger provides two clamps disposed on an I-beam-like crossbar on opposing sides of a hook. The lateral positions of the clamp are adjustable. The spring-clip that biases the garment engaging surfaces of the clamps together also provides frictional engagement between the clamps and the upper ridge of the crossbar. Hooks disposed at either end of the crossbar are suitable for engaging straps and also limit the outward lateral position of the clamps. Steps or stacking ribs disposed adjacent to the hook limit the inward lateral movement of the clamps. The spring bias of the spring-clip against the clamps resists clamp creep under the weight of a heavy garment.

  • Patent number: 5183191
Abstract: A clamp-type garment hanger with pads of resilient friction material on the inner clamping surfaces of the garment clamp assemblies to provide non-slip surfaces for garments such as trousers, skirts and the like. The non-slip surfaces on the clamp assemblies prevent the garments from slipping through the clamp asssemblies and falling onto the floor. The application of resilient friction material to the inner clamping surfaces applies equally to all types of clamp-type garment hangers. The resilient friction material used on the clamping surfaces comprises a block copolymer having discreet block segments of styrene monomer units and rubber monomer units.
