  • Patent number: 4762238
Abstract: To discourage purloining of garment hangers from public facilities, the hangers are fabricated with support hooks having an inside opening too small to accommodate the support rods used for conventional hangers. To suspend the smaller hooks one or more auxiliary rods of substantially smaller diameter are suspended by brackets from the conventional rod.

  • Patent number: 4744496
Abstract: A hanger for garments with a waistband having at least a limited degree of stretchability has a compression resistant body with dependent end members having garment gripping end faces. Between the end members, the hanger body has a plurality of dependent fingers arranged in two groups, one on each side of the center of the hanger body. The fingers are arranged at spacings to accommodate a variety of garment sizes, the waistbands of which are wrapped around both ends of the hanger and anchored to a selected pair of the fingers. In a modified construction, the fingers are hinged so they can be pivoted out of the plane of the hanger body to facilitate mounting and removal of the garments.

  • Patent number: 4729498
Abstract: A garment hanger for suspending garments from their waistband is provided with a hollow tubular beam-like body suspended from a hook at its center. A pair of end members are telescopically slidably seated, one in each end of the body. Each end member is individually urged into extended position by an elastic tension member which is anchored at the outer end of the body and operatively engages the inner of the end member. Preferably, the tension members are endless loops, the closed ends of each of which are hooked to the end of the body and at their centers are wrapped around the inner ends of the end members. The body and end members have interfitting flanges for guiding and stabilizing the end members.

  • Patent number: 4660750
Abstract: An article hanger of the type having an elongated body with dependent arms mounting article gripping clamps and rod support means which permits the rod to be assembled to the hanger body through a face of the body after the hanger has been molded. The support means includes a member for locking the rod into its supporting means in a manner preventing unintentional release. The hanger body also includes a third support for the rod to reduce load induced deflection. Article clamps for the hanger are so designed that they can either be mounted on the rod before assembly of the rod to the hanger body or the clamps can be assembled about the rod after installation of the rod on the hanger body.

  • Patent number: 4653678
Abstract: A hanger of molded plastic body construction has an integral hook anchor for an auxiliary hanger depending from the body of the hanger below and in vertical alignment with the hanger's support hook. The hook anchor has an internal chamber defined by front, back and bottom walls. The chamber is open at both ends and has a height substantially greater than the material thickness of the auxiliary hook to be secured in it. One of the front or rear walls has a horizontal slot providing access to the chamber for the hook of the auxiliary hanger. The slot is spaced above the bottom of the chamber to create a retaining lip for a hook seated in the chamber. In addition, means are provided to restrain the hook from leaving the chamber unless the removal is intentional and forcible.

  • Patent number: 4638930
Abstract: An article hanger of the type having an elongated body with dependent arms supporting a rod. The arms have rod support means which permits the rod to be assembled to the hanger body through a face of the body after the hanger has been molded. The support means includes a member for locking the rod into its supporting means in a manner preventing unintentional release. Article clamps for the hanger are mounted on the rod.

  • Patent number: 4600132
Abstract: A garment hanger having flexibly hinged support arms to which an upper pair of lever arms are secured. The lever arms and support arms both include a medial hinge that provide for the upward pivoting of the support arms when the lever arms are converged. An elongated, resilient biasing rod is secured between the support arms in order to bias the support arms to a generally planar configuration and thereby tension the support arm outer ends against the garment. The lever arms include gripping segments that are oriented and spaced in order to permit the gripping segments to be grasped and squeezed in one hand in order to converge the support arm outer ends.

  • Patent number: 4556158
Abstract: A one-piece molded plastic garment hanger has upper and lower bars connected at one end by a hinge. The hanger has a support hook generally centered between the ends of the hanger and integral with the lower bar. The hinge is designed with inner and outer spaced spring members separated by a gap with the inner spring member serving as the pivot and the outer one having a rigid web in its apex serving as a stiffener. The entire hinge in open position being inclined downwardly at an acute angle to the axis of the lower bar. When the hanger is closed and the bars generally parallel, the hinge is pivoted upwardly into substantial alignment with the lower bar axis.

  • Patent number: 4467569
Abstract: A telescopic multi-tier riser assembly formed from a plurality of telescopic multi-tier riser modules positioned in side-by-side relationship. Each said riser module is of a telescopic multi-tier construction and includes top and bottom platforms and at least one intermediate platform. The platforms are telescopically movable relative to one another between an open position wherein the individual platforms project forwardly in a step-like manner and a closed position wherein the platforms are vertically supported one above the other. The platforms each have a side-to-side width which is substantially less than its front-to-back length, which width comfortably accommodates only a single chair on the respective platform.
