A user who has watched a portion of at least one video in the series of videos or at least one video in the series of videos may be determined, wherein the user is assigned an affinity score indicating a user interest to continue viewing the series of videos. A notification identifying the notifiable event pertaining to the series of videos may be generated, the notification comprising a reference to an unwatched next video in the series of videos.

Abstract: A method for personalized sharing of videos on a content sharing platform is disclosed. The method includes presenting, by a user device of a user of the content sharing platform, a user interface (UI) including a video and a UI share element allowing the user to share the video, in response to a selection of the UI share element by the user in the UI, transmitting a request to share the video to a server, and receiving, from the server, a subset of contacts of the user on the content sharing platform. The method further includes presenting, to the user, the subset of contacts of the user comprising a first contact of the plurality of contacts of the user and excluding a second contact of the plurality of contacts of the user, and allowing the user to share the video with the first contact from the subset of the plurality of contacts.

In an embodiment, a client device can include a presentation component configured to render a interface on a display of the device, the user interface comprising a feed with scrollable content items that are continuously updated based on information provided by a server device associated with the feed. The client device can further include an input component configured to facilitate navigation of the feed, and an engagement component configured to identify a content item included in the feed that is associated with a defined level of user engagement based in part on visibility of the content item as presented via the display in response to the navigation of the feed. An auxiliary content item is received and integrated into the interface based on the identification of the content item.

In accordance with some embodiments, the method comprises: determining that a new video associated with a content creator has been uploaded to a video sharing service; identifying a group of candidate users to receive a message indicating that the new video is available; identifying a sub-group of users within the group of candidate users based on relationships of users within the group to each other; determining a time to send the message; transmitting the message to the sub-group of users at the determined time; determining that the message has been selected by a user device associated with a user of the sub-group of users; and causing the new video to be presented in a user interface including a communication interface associated with the sub-group of users on the user device.

In some implementations, a method includes causing a stream of media content data to be received from a stream source and output by a first device to a user, where a portion of the data is buffered on the first device before output. An indication is detected that the user has stopped using the first device for output of the content data. A place marker indicates a portion of the content that is output approximately at the time of the indication. The method causes the stream of content data to be received and output by a second device starting at the place marker portion. The buffered content data is sent from the first device to the second device for output by the second device before unbuffered portions of the content data received from the stream source.

Abstract: Systems, methods, and apparatus include computer programs encoded on a computer-readable storage medium, including a system for ranking videos. Videos are identified that have been presented at client devices. For each video, session start data is identified that specifies a lead video that initiated presentation to a user during a presentation session. For each lead video, presentation times over multiple user sessions are determined, a scaled presentation time is obtained, user sessions for which the lead video initiated presentation of videos are identified, and an aggregate video presentation time attributable to the lead video is determined. For each given video, a presentation score is determined based on a scaled presentation time of the lead video relative to a sum of the aggregate video presentation times for the lead videos. The videos are ranked based on the presentation scores. A user interface is updated to present the ranked videos.
