    Abstract: Embodiments of golf club heads comprising a club face with a variable thickness profile to adjust stiffness and characteristic time (CT) are described herein. The variable thickness profile comprises strategically positioned thickened and thinned regions. In many embodiments, variable thickness profile can taper from a thickened region to a thinned region. The thickened region can comprise a maximum thickness of the club face, and the thinned region can comprise a minimum thickness of the club face. The variable thickness profiles described in this disclosure increase stiffness in a high toe area of the club face and decrease stiffness in a heel area of the club face.

    Abstract: Some embodiments include club heads having reinforced club head faces. In one example, the club head comprises a variable face thickness profile with thickened and thinned regions. The face includes a thinned perimeter region positioned near a perimeter of the face, and a thickened central region positioned over a geometric center of the face. The club head further comprises a 360 undercut that extends along the entire perimeter of the face. The club head further comprises one or more reinforcement ribs to improve the frequency response during golf ball impacts. The combination of the thinned perimeter region, thickened central region, and 360 undercut reinforces the club head while permitting the face to bend. Other embodiments of related club heads and methods are also disclosed.

The sole member comprises a structural layer formed from a filled thermoplastic material and a fiber reinforced composite resilient layer bonded to an external surface of the structural layer. The structural layer includes a plurality of stiffening members extending from a forward portion to a rear peripheral portion of the sole member. The resilient layer can comprise a uniform thickness. The structural layer and the resilient layer each include a common thermoplastic resin component, and are directly bonded to each other without an intermediate adhesive.
