  • Patent number: 8058417
Abstract: Production and use of a sulfur-containing compound, tropodithietic acid (TDA), from the roseobacter Silicibacter sp. TM1040 is described. Specifically, a biosynthetic and regulatory pathway for TDA biosynthesis in roseobacters is described. The TDA produced from roseobacters, specifically Silicibacter sp. TM1040, is shown to have antibacterial activity, in particular against Vibrio anguillarium, Vibrio cholerae, Vibrio coralliilyticus, Vibrio shiloi, Halomonas spp., Mycobacterium marinum, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Pseudomonas elongate, Spongiobacter nikelotolerans, and Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

  • Publication number: 20110151851
Abstract: The disclosed are methods and communication devices include a user interface configured receive input to place the device in silence mode and to make exceptions to the silence mode and an indicator to provide an announcement that there is data stored related to incoming communications so that even when the device in silence mode, the user may not miss important notifications. The exceptions to the silence mode include at least one of receipt of an identified communication signal, an identified application indication or an identified event notification. The disclosed methods and communication device may further include a sensor to that the processor will provide an indication whether there is data stored related to detect a user action with respect to the device so incoming communications since a silence mode commenced. The disclosed methods and devices may provide a user choice in how to control incoming communications of the mobile device.

  • Publication number: 20110154260
Abstract: A method and apparatus includes an electronic device that displays 110 a plurality of members on a first portion of a display and receives 115 a first input on the first portion of the display, wherein the input selects a first member from the plurality of members. Then, the electronic device enlarges 120 the first member and displays 130 additional information associated with the first member on the first portion of the display. After the selection, the device determines 135 if the received input is an entry input. If the input is determined to be an entry input, then detailed information associated with the first member is displayed 140 on a second portion of the display.

  • Publication number: 20110102175
Abstract: Disclosed are communication devices and methods of communication devices including generic indicators and a user interface to configure the generic indicators so that a user can privately determine, in real-time, from whom a communication signal has been received and the type of communication signal received. A user may select contacts having communication addresses stored in a memory, particular types of communication signals and correlate them to generic indicators. When communication signals are received by the device that correspond to a selected communication address and a particular type of communication signal an announcement can be made by configured generic indicators. Once configured, when the device is in an indicator state, a device's ringer and/or vibrator may be disabled, particularly where such disturbances are unacceptable and a user nevertheless may be able to determine, according to the configured generic indicators from which contact a particular type of communication has been received.

  • Publication number: 20100274313
Abstract: An implantable medical device is provided for the suppression or prevention of pain, movement disorders, epilepsy, cerebrovascular diseases, autoimmune diseases, sleep disorders, autonomic disorders, abnormal metabolic states, disorders of the muscular system, and neuropsychiatric disorders in a patient. The implantable medical device can be a neurostimulator configured to be implanted on or near a cranial nerve to treat headache or other neurological disorders. One aspect of the implantable medical device is that it includes an electronics enclosure, a substrate integral to the electronics enclosure, and a monolithic feed-through integral to the electronics enclosure and the substrate. In some embodiments, the implantable medical device can include a fixation apparatus for attaching the device to a patient.

  • Publication number: 20090293643
Abstract: The pipette rack comprises a plate, a peripheral base and a peripheral skirt. The plate has a first surface and defines an array of tip receptacles extending therethrough in a first direction orthogonal to the first surface. The tip receptacles are contoured to provide a clearance fit at locations axially offset from one another along a part of a pipette tip. The base extends in the first direction from the plate to a distal end surface. The skirt extends in the first direction from the base, and is outwardly offset therefrom to expose the distal end surface of the base so that the distal end surface contacts the plate of a similar pipette rack when the pipette racks are stacked.

  • Publication number: 20060177922
Abstract: An incubator for storing micro-plates or micro-tubes comprises a handling robot positioned between shelves or drawers containing micro-titer plates or other containers useful for biological based reactions. The advantages of this configuration are the ultimate compactness of the system and increased speed or reliability achieved with more than one robot being able to access the same plate or tube. Alternative embodiments standardize the spacing and configuration of a robot track and a shelf track such that a shelf and a robot are interchangeable in a track.
