Abstract: A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is a C.sub.2 -C.sub.3 alkyl group, a C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkenyl group, or a C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkynyl group, and X is a chlorine or bromine atom, is disclosed. These compounds are useful as intermediates in the production of herbicidal 3-chlorotetrahydroindazoles.

Abstract: A herbicidal composition which comprises as the active ingredients (a) 2-[7-fluoro-3,4-dihydro-3-oxo-4-(2-propynyl)-2H-1,4-benzoxazine-6-yl]-4,5, 6,7-tetrahydro-1H-isoindole-1,3(2H)-dione and (b) 2-[[(E)-3-chloroallyloxyimino]propyl]-5-(2-ethylthiopropyl)-3-hydroxycyclo hex-2-enone (clethodim), and an inert carrier or diluent.

Abstract: Provided herein is a comound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a C.sub.1 -C.sub.2 alkyl group; R.sup.2 is a hydrogen atom, halogen atom, methyl group, or trifluoromethyl group at the o- or m-position; R.sup.3 is a halogen atom, methyl group, or trifluoromethyl group; and X is an oxygen or sulfur atom. It has an outstanding herbicidal effect and selectivity for crop plants and weeds. It is useful as a herbicide.

Abstract: Various intermediates useful in the production of herbicidal 2-substituted phenyl-4,5,6,7-tetrahydro-2H-indazole compounds are disclosed. These intermediates have the following formulas: ##STR1## wherein X is chlorine or bromine, Z is chlorine or methyl, and A is amino, hydroxyl, or nitro; ##STR2## wherein B is nitro or hydroxy, and X is chlorine or bromine.

Abstract: A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R is NH.sub.2 or NO.sub.2, and X is chlorine or bromine, is disclosed. These compounds are useful as intermediates in the production of herbicidal tetrahydrophthalimides of the formula: ##STR2## wherein R' is a C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkenyl group or a C.sub.3 -C.sub.4 alkynyl group, and X is as defined above.

Abstract: A compound of the formula: ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are each a lower alkyl group or they may together represent a lower alkylene group so as to form a nitrogen-containing cyclic group with the nitrogen atom to which they attach, R.sub.3 is a cycloalkyl(lower)alkyl group, an oxacycloalkyl(lower)alkyl group or a dioxacycloalkyl(lower)alkyl group and n is an integer of 0 to 2, which is useful as a herbicide.
