  • Patent number: 8922597
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device includes a plurality of pixel circuits, data lines, and a data-line driving circuit connected to the data lines. Each of the pixel circuits includes a pixel capacitance having one end provided with a common potential. In accordance with a grayscale value for one of the plurality of pixel circuits, the data-line driving circuit selectively outputs a positive-polarity signal and a negative-polarity signal to the one pixel circuit. The data-line driving circuit outputs the positive-polarity signal and the negative-polarity signal so that an average of a potential of the positive-polarity signal and a potential of the negative-polarity signal corresponding to the grayscale value changes in accordance with the grayscale value, a temperature, and a position of the one pixel circuit.

  • Publication number: 20140340297
Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device that performs horizontal divisional-drive operation, writing of a pixel voltage to pixels in a head row in vertical scanning of each display region becomes insufficient, and a dark line is displayed when the head row is located at the screen center, deteriorating the image quality. For example, a scanning line drive circuit to drive gate lines of a lower display region sequentially outputs a scanning pulse (Pk) for selecting a (n+k)th row of an image. A video line drive circuit to drive source lines of the lower display region outputs a pixel voltage corresponding to data (Dn+k) during a period of the scanning pulse (Pk). An application start timing of the pixel voltage with respect to application of the scanning pulse (Pk) is set earlier in a (n+1)th row, a head row, during an effective scanning period (TEFF) than in the subsequent rows.

  • Publication number: 20140146263
Abstract: The present invention is intended to control the color temperature of white exhibited by a liquid crystal display device. White is produced when light waves emitted through pixels associated with three colors of red, green, and blue have maximum intensities. The amounts of light emitted through the respective pixels are controlled by differentiating the shapes of the pixel electrodes disposed at the respective pixels from one another. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. Otherwise, the shapes of interceptive films disposed at the respective pixels are differentiated from one another in order to control light waves emitted through the respective pixels. Thus, the color temperature of white is controlled. The interceptive film may be shaped like the pixel electrode. Otherwise, the interceptive film may be realized with an interceptive pattern other than that of the pixel electrode or one of openings bored in a black matrix.

Abstract: In a liquid crystal display device including a liquid crystal display panel, and a backlight disposed on the rear surface of the liquid crystal display panel, the backlight is provided with a plurality of white light-emitting diodes arranged in a plane opposing the liquid crystal display panel. Based on a chromaticity coordinate value representing a color of emission identified for each of the white light-emitting diodes, the white light-emitting diodes are selectively combined for arrangement in proximity in such a manner that the color of emission as a result of averaging over the white light-emitting diodes (1a, 1b) to be arranged in proximity takes a predetermined value of chromaticity coordinates.
