  • Publication number: 20130244037
Abstract: Methods and assemblies for the construction of liquid-phase alloy nanoparticles are presented. Particle formation is directed by molecular self-assembly and assisted by sonication. In some embodiments, eutectic gallium-indium (EGaIn) nanoparticles are formed. In these embodiments, the bulk liquid alloy is ultrasonically dispersed, fast thiolate self-assembly at the EGaIn interface protects the material against oxidation. The assembly shell has been designed to include intermolecular hydrogen bonds, which induce surface strain, assisting in cleavage of the alloy particles to the nanoscale. X-ray diffraction and TEM analyses reveal that the nanoscale particles are in an amorphous or liquid phase, with no observed faceting.

  • Patent number: 8071081
Abstract: Compositions, methods and apparatuses for reducing or eliminating malodors from indoor air are described. The method utilizes vapor phase hydrogen peroxide (VPHP) generated from either evaporation from an aqueous-based liquid composition or sublimation from a solid hydrogen peroxide-containing compound. VPHP engages a media coated with at least one transitional metal element or compound, which acts as an oxidation catalyst, in the presence of air that contains malodorous compounds to provide increased efficacy of malodor molecule oxidation. The apparatus can employ a disposable porous non-woven filter pad coated with one or more transition metal compounds, and a solid source of VPHP. Malodor-containing air engages the pad in the presence of the VPHP to effectively oxidize the malodorants. The apparatus can also include a mechanism to provide color change(s) in the presence of VPHP to indicate whether the device contains VPHP or not.

  • Publication number: 20110163499
Abstract: A board game for stimulating infants and for use by two or more players or teams for use with an infant as an active part of the board game. The game board sized to allow an infant to be placed thereon, having score/progress/position indicia thereon and two or more score markers for placement at or on the indicia to indicate the position/progress/score of each player/team. In one form, the game also includes a ball-like element to be placed upon the infant so that when the players/teams vie for the attention of the infant and get the infant to turn in their direction, the ball-like element rolls or slides off the infant toward the player(s) to earn a point or advancement. Preferably, the game board is covered in a soft fabric, similar to a baby blanket, and is sized similarly to a baby blanket or larger.

  • Publication number: 20100109270
Abstract: A baby stroller system is provided including a baby stroller and a ride along board attached thereto for supporting a rider (e.g., a child) while the stroller is pushed. The ride along board may include a platform for the rider to stand upon and at least one wheel for supporting the platform. Additionally, the ride along board is positioned asymmetrically relative to the stroller, e.g., in-line with one of the rear wheel or laterally outside of the stroller wheel base. Further, the platform may be positioned laterally outside of the handlebars, thereby providing more room for the rider (e.g., not having to stand or squeeze between the handlebars) and moving the ride along board and rider away from the moving space of a user pushing the stroller. The ride along board further includes at least three wheels defining a ride along board wheel base, where a center of mass of the ride along board is within the wheel base. The ride along board may be attached to opposing ends of an axle of one of the rear wheels.

  • Patent number: 7562759
Abstract: A passenger conveyor handrail (30) includes a plurality of teeth (36) that interact with a toothed driving member (42). In a disclosed example, a low friction material (60) is placed near an end of the teeth (36) on the handrail (30). The low friction material (60) facilitates the teeth sliding along a guidance (70) but does not interfere with a desired engagement between the teeth(36) and corresponding teeth (46) on the driving member (42).

  • Publication number: 20090130047
Abstract: Compositions, methods and apparatuses for reducing or eliminating malodors from indoor air are described. A method is provided for the reduction or elimination of malodors from indoor air using vapor phase hydrogen peroxide generated from either evaporation from a pH neutral to mildly acidic aqueous-based liquid composition or sublimation from a solid composition containing at least one pH neutral to mildly acidic solid hydrogen peroxide-containing compound. The vapor phase hydrogen peroxide (VPHP) engages a media coated with at least one transitional metal element or compound in the presence of air that contains malodorous compounds. The combination of the vapor phase hydrogen peroxide and the transitional metal compound, which acts as an oxidation catalyst, provides increased efficacy of malodor molecule oxidation.
