  • Publication number: 20240291416
Abstract: Methods, controllers and electric machine systems are described that facilitate pulsed control of electric machines (e.g., electric motors and generators) to improve the machine's energy conversion efficiency. Under selected operating conditions, the electric machine is intermittently driven (pulsed). The pulsed operation causes the output of the electric machine to alternate between a first output level and an off state. The output levels are selected such that the electric machine has a higher energy conversion efficiency during the pulsed operation than the electric machine would have when operated at a third output level that would be required to drive the electric machine in a continuous manner to deliver the desired output. In some embodiments, the power converter it turned off during at least portions of the time that the electric machine is pulsed off.

  • Publication number: 20240288924
Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for power arbitration for systems of electronic components are described. A system may include a power source, a signaling conductor coupled with a voltage source, and a set of electronic components. One or more of the electronic components may include respective circuitry coupled with the power source and a respective switching component (e.g., a transistor) coupled with the signaling conductor. In some implementations, an electronic component of the set may be configured to determine an operation of its respective circuitry that is associated with a power consumption from the power source. Based on such a determination, the electronic component may switch its respective switching component in accordance with an identifier associated with the electronic component, and determine whether to perform the operation based on monitoring a signal level of the signaling conductor during the switching.

  • Publication number: 20240290538
Abstract: A method of increasing anisotropy of magnetic materials formed by a hydrogenation-disproportionation-desorption-recombination (HDDR) process is provided. The method includes subjecting a starting magnetic material to a hydrogenation-disproportionation (HD) step in the presence of a magnetic field to obtain intermediate materials. The strength of the applied magnetic field is between 0.25 T and 9 T, optionally less than or equal to 2 T. The HD step may be performed for a period of time between 10 and 60 minutes at a temperature of at least 600° C., optionally in the range of 600° C. to 900° C. Subsequently, the intermediate materials are subjected to a desorption-recombination (DR) step to obtain a magnetic powder. Application of the magnetic field during the hydrogenation-disproportionation step increases the magnetic anisotropy of the obtained magnetic powder. Magnetic powders obtained by the method and bonded magnets formed with the magnetic powders are also provided.

  • Publication number: 20240285026
Abstract: A golf shoe with a sole assembly having a sidewall reinforcement structure is provided. The reinforcement structure may be formed from a carbon composite or other reinforcing material. The reinforcement structure is molded into the sole assembly for reinforcing softer midsole sidewalls, and for providing increased stability and maintaining forefoot flexibility. The structure is generally U-shaped with a medial and lateral side wing and a bridge connecting the wings. The medial wing may be angled rearward to support the rearfoot, and the lateral wing may be angled forward to support the midfoot. Thus, the reinforcement structure may hold and support the medial and lateral sides of the golfer's foot as they shift their weight while making a golf shot. At the same time, the shoe has good flexibility so the golfer is able to walk and play the course and engage in other golf activities comfortably.
