  • Patent number: 10104591
Abstract: Coordinated P-GW change for SIPTO may be provided. A WTRU may send and/or receive one or more flows via a first PDN connection and via a first P-GW. The WTRU may send an indication to the network that at least one flow of the first PDN connection is available for SIPTO. The indication may include one or more SIPTO preferences. The WTRU may receive a message from a MME. The message may trigger establishment of a second PDN connection via a second P-GW. The WTRU may move, while maintaining the first PDN connection, the at least one flow from the first PDN connection to the second PDN connection. The WTRU may deactivate the first PDN connection when the one or more flows have been moved to the second PDN connection and/or when no information has been received via the first PDN connection after a predetermined duration.

  • Patent number: 10091723
Abstract: Methods and apparatus may be used for selecting power saving mechanisms in a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). For example, a WTRU may support at least power saving mode (PSM) and/or extended discontinuous reception (eDRX) mode. The WTRU may send a request message including parameters associated with the supported power saving mechanisms, such as an active time for PSM and a preferred DRX value for eDRX mode. The WTRU may receive an accept message including at least one selected parameter indicating the power saving mechanism for the WTRU selected by the network (NW). The WTRU may activate the selected power saving mechanism, and may start a validity timer to define the duration of use of the selected power saving mechanism. In another example, a WTRU configured to use eDRX may receive paging signals for system information (SI) change over a prolonged Broadcast Control Channel (BCCH) modification period.

  • Patent number: 9980295
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may detect cell congestion by selecting a preamble type as a function of priority level, transmitting the preamble to a serving cell, receiving a random access response (RAR) from the serving cell, determining a congestion state of the serving cell as a function of the received RAR, and/or responding to the congestion state of the serving cell. RACH functionality may be improved by allocating one or more sets of Physical RACH (PRACH) resources to a WTRU. The WTRU may configure the additional PRACH resources based on the allocation. A WTRU may determine a second set of PRACH resources based at least in part on a first set of PRACH resources. A WTRU may determine additional sets of PRACH preambles and may utilize modified PRACH preambles and/or modified PRACH preamble formats. The WTRU may signal additional PRACH resources.

  • Publication number: 20180092108
Abstract: Described herein is a silent period method and apparatus for dynamic spectrum management. The methods include configuration and coordination of silent periods across an aggregated channel in a wireless communication system. A silent period management entity (SPME) dynamically determines silent period schedules for channels based on system and device information and assigns a silent period duration and periodicity for each silent period. The SPME may reconfigure the silent period schedule based on system delay, system throughput, channel quality or channel management events. A silent period interpretation entity (SPIE) receives and implements the silent period schedule. The silent periods for the channels may be synchronized, independent, or set-synchronized.

  • Patent number: 9924413
Abstract: A method and apparatus for home Node-B (HNB) mobility with a local IP access (LIPA) packet data network (PDN) connection are described. A target home node-B (HNB) may receive a handover request message from a source HNB to handover a wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU). A path switch request may be transmitted to a local gateway (LGW) to change a downlink data path towards the target HNB in response to the handover request message. The LGW may act as a mobility management and local mobility anchor for the handover; and informing an HNB gateway (GW) about the handover so that the downlink data path for core network (CN) traffic is modified towards the target HNB.

  • Publication number: 20180027479
Abstract: A wireless transmit/receive unit (WTRU) may include a transceiver and a processor. The WTRU may receive broadcast information that may include at least one control parameter and/or an associated indication of access barring for each of the plurality service types. The non-access stratum (NAS) layer in the WTRU may send a service access request to the radio resource control (RRC) layer for the application including the service type and/or the priority associated with the application. If a priority associated with an application is above a predetermined priority threshold, the RRC layer may generate and transmit an RRC connection request message for the application to an eNB. In this case, the WTRU may ignore an indication of access barring for a service type associated with the application when proceeding with the connection request. The service types may be application specific congestion control for data communication (ACDC) categories, for example.
