  • Publication number: 20160146756
Abstract: A magnetohydrodynamic microfluidic system and a method of pumping a fluid using a magnetohydrodynamic system are disclosed. The method includes applying at least one of an electric current and an electric voltage to a first modified electrode and a second electrode to generate an ionic current between the first modified electrode and the second electrode and to cause a current carrying species to move to or from the modified electrode, applying a magnetic field perpendicular to an ionic current vector, the magnetic field and the ionic current combining to induce flow of the fluid in a direction perpendicular to the magnetic field and the ionic current vector, and maintaining fluid flow by recharging the modified electrode.

  • Publication number: 20160131161
Abstract: According to an aspect of the present invention, multi nozzle device comprises hollow inner cylinder and an outer cylinder. The hollow inner cylinder may have multiple nozzles along the length of said inner cylinder. The hollow inner cylinder may be coupled to a first pressure. The outer cylinder may be mounted over said inner cylinder such that internal diameter of said outer cylinder is in push fit with external diameter of said inner cylinder. The push fit is chosen to minimize friction to enable the outer cylinder to take place of the flapper. The outer cylinder is moved exposing the nozzles and the first pressure is reduced by a proportion related to number of nozzles exposed. In one embodiment, multi nozzle device further comprise, an 0 ring to prevent leakage of pressure when the inner cylinder and the outer cylinder are tight fit.

  • Publication number: 20150224499
Abstract: An automated assay platform for determining the presence and/or amount of analytes of interest in a sample at point of care integrates microfluidic enhanced assay sites, disposable cartridge designs, a sensitive low-volume detection module, together with selected pumping and valving modules, customized control board and user friendly graphical user interface (GUI). Comparing to traditional assay platform like 96-well ELISA, the platform is capable of reducing reagent consumption, increasing assay speed, and enhancing assay performance with a sample-in-answer-out automated process. This platform also features flexibility of adapting different assay schemes for different analytes.

  • Patent number: 9076106
Abstract: A system includes a risk assessment system. The risk assessment system includes a risk calculation system configured to calculate a risk based on one or more static inputs and one or more dynamic inputs. The one or more dynamic inputs includes a location of a human resource, a mobile resource, or a combination thereof. The risk assessment system further includes a decision support system (DSS) configured to use the risk to derive one or more decisions based on the risk, the one or more static inputs, and the one or more dynamic inputs. The one or more decisions are configured to aid in operating an industrial facility.

  • Patent number: 8759656
Abstract: A game facilitating teaching of music reading and learning in a fun way includes a pair of blinding glasses which completely deprive a wearer of sight, seven cubes having a magnet at their centers and engraved musical notes on some of their sides. A musical staff having palpable lines and spaces allowing for the receipt of a plurality of staff note pieces to designate musical scales or chords. A timing device offers the possibility of increasing the difficulty of game play by limiting the amount of time a participant has to complete an arrangement of game pieces.

  • Publication number: 20130267311
Abstract: A game apparatus includes a media conversion engine configured to convert starting media having true component objects into converted media having identity-obscured component objects. A player interface of the game apparatus receives, from players, identity hypothesis information regarding the identity-obscured component objects and a hypothesis tester compares the identity hypothesis information with a true identity input and outputs feedback. Feedback output is presented to players through the player interface. A method for playing a game using the game apparatus is also included.
