  • Publication number: 20210022178
Abstract: Certain aspects of the present disclosure provide techniques that may allow multiple access points (APs) to coordinate to send simultaneous OFDMA transmissions to a single user (SU). A set of APs participating in such a coordinated effort may be referred to as a coordinated AP (CAP) set. Hence, the transmissions according to this scheme may be referred to as CAP SU OFDMA transmissions.

  • Publication number: 20210007168
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for signaling between an access point (AP) multi-link device (MLD) and a non-AP MLD that support multi-link communication in a wireless local area network (WLAN). In some implementations, a multi-link association may include a first link (referred to as an anchor link) and one or more other links (referred to as auxiliary links). The signaling may include control information to activate or deactivate auxiliary links dynamically based on communication load, throughput requirements, or quality of service (QoS). The signaling also may include requests, acknowledgments, or negotiation regarding multi-link connections. Furthermore, signaling and timing information may be used to coordinate when auxiliary links are used for communication or when to promote an auxiliary link to an anchor link.

  • Patent number: 10390187
Abstract: In accordance with one or more embodiments and corresponding disclosure thereof, various aspects are described in connection with providing shared scheduling request (SR) resources to devices for transmitting SRs. Identifiers related to the shared SR resources can be signaled to the devices along with indications of the shared SR resources in given time durations. Thus, devices can transmit an SR over shared SR resources related to one or more received identifiers for obtaining an uplink grant. This can decrease delay associated with receiving uplink grants since the device need not wait for dedicated SR resources before transmitting the SR. In addition, overhead can be decreased on control channels, as compared to signaling dedicated SR resources and/or uplink grants. Moreover, identifiers related to SR resources can correspond to a grouping of devices, such that a device can transmit over shared SR resources related to a group including the device.

  • Patent number: 10292167
Abstract: Uplink reporting and logical channel prioritization in multiflow operation is described. In some embodiments, uplink reporting for multiflow operation utilizes bearer level splitting where the UE associates bearers or logical channel groups (LCGs) with cells for uplink reporting. In some embodiments, uplink reporting for multiflow operation utilizes packet level splitting where the UE groups buffers for all LCGs into a common pool for uplink reporting. In packet level splitting embodiments, the UE may perform uplink reporting based on the total amount of data available for transmission in the common buffer pool or by applying scaling coefficients associated with the serving cells. Some embodiments manage mapping of logical channel payloads to uplink grants for multiflow operation.

  • Publication number: 20180302832
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for serving AP selection in a network having multiple access points (APs). In one aspect, a serving AP selection unit can steer a device (such as a client station, STA, or a child AP) based on a quality of service profile (such as a capacity requirement or a delay requirement) of the device. The device may be initially associated with a first AP (as the current serving AP) in the network. The serving AP selection unit may select a second AP as a new serving AP for the device, and cause the device to associate with the second AP rather than the first AP. The selection of a serving AP may take into account delay or hop count in addition to path capacities for various paths in the network.

  • Publication number: 20180279192
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for steering an association of a device in a network having multiple access points (APs). In one aspect, a first AP can obtain per-AP metric information regarding a plurality of other APs in the network. The per-AP metric information may include backhaul performance information regarding at least one wireless backhaul channel in the network. The per-AP metric information may include an estimated air time fraction value reported by the other APs. A selection to steer the device from the first AP to a second AP can be based, at least in part, on the per-AP metric information. In some implementations, a Multi-AP Controller can redistribute per-AP metric information collected from multiple APs in the network. In some implementations, a topology of the network may be optimized by steering a child AP to another wireless backhaul link.

  • Publication number: 20180279130
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for enhanced channel selection in a network having multiple access points (APs). The enhanced channel selection may optimize the overall performance of the network by incorporating considerations about the impact on other APs in a big-picture view of the network. In one aspect, enhanced channel selection may combine a first channel selection process at a first AP (based on first channel selection by the first AP) with a second channel selection at a Multi-AP Controller. Coordination between the first AP and the Multi-AP Controller may improve a channel selection technique to optimize channel selection based on considerations of the overall network.

  • Patent number: 9942800
Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer storage media, for load balancing network traffic in a wireless network. In one aspect, an access point may determine a plurality of client devices that are associated with an overloaded channel of the wireless network. The access point may identify a first client device of the plurality of client devices based, at least in part, on an airtime consumed on the overloaded channel. The access point may determine one or more alternate paths between the access point and the first client device. The access point may forecast airtime to be used by the first client device on channels of the one or more alternate paths, and steer wireless network traffic of the first client device to a first alternate path of the one or more alternate paths based, at least in part, on the forecasted airtime.
