  • Publication number: 20050259227
Abstract: A concept of improving a resolution by using human's visual characteristics is provided. Bu the present invention, an image can be displayed at a more improved resolution than an actual physical resolution, thereby obtaining the same effect that the resolution is physically improved. An image signal corresponding to one frame is split into a first image signal and a second image signal, and a first image and a second image are formed based on the first image signal and the second image signal. Then, the first image and the second image are respectively displayed at a first location and a second location. As a result, a viewer can view the image at an improved resolution.

  • Publication number: 20050078241
Abstract: Disclosed is a liquid crystal display device capable of improving a viewing angle thereof while reducing a gray scale inversion. The liquid crystal display device has a porous film aligned on a liquid crystal display panel and having a plurality of pores. The porous film has sidewalls defined by the pores and reflecting a part of light exited from the liquid crystal display panel. That is, the sidewalls reflect a first group of light, which has relatively higher luminance by passing through a short axis of liquid crystal, towards a second group of light having a relatively lower luminance by passing through a long axis of liquid crystal. Accordingly, the viewing angle of the liquid crystal display device is expanded and the gray scale inversion is reduced.

  • Publication number: 20050023370
Abstract: A protective cover is provided for substantially enclosing and protecting a bubbler head of a drinking fountain or the like against contamination when water flow to the bubbler head is turned off. In one preferred form, when the water flow is turned on, the protective cover is hydraulically elevated or pops up to a raised position permitting substantially unimpeded projection of a water stream from the bubbler head for drinking, etc. In an alternative preferred form, the bubbler head is hydraulically elevated or pops to a raised position within a stationary protective cover when the water supply is turned on for substantially unimpeded projection of water stream from the bubbler head through an open flow port formed in the cover.

  • Publication number: 20050023499
Abstract: A pushbutton valve assembly for regulating water flow from a water supply to a point of use such as a bubbler head of a drinking fountain. The valve assembly includes a valve body adapted for mounting onto a suitable housing panel or the like, and includes an internal valve cartridge for on-off control of water flow. A pushbutton is rotatably carried by an escutcheon ring mounted rotatably onto an exposed outboard end of the valve body, and this pushbutton is axially movable between depressed and non-depressed positions for on-off operation of the valve cartridge. The pushbutton and the escutcheon ring include respective pairs of axially open wrench ports which can be axially aligned upon appropriate pushbutton rotation to accommodate reception of a tool such as a spanner wrench for rotatably removing the escutcheon ring from the valve body, thereby exposing the valve cartridge for service or replacement.

  • Patent number: 6500575
Abstract: A method for fabricating cylindrical and prismatic rechargeable metal-air batteries is devised. The method includes using micro fans to control air flowing through the batteries via air pathways between the packs of electrodes and separator sheet. The air pathways are created by protrusions printed or molded on plastic spacer film. The air is used by the positive electrode for generating electricity when the metal-air battery is discharged. By conjunction of a second positive electrode and an energy storage device, the micro fans can be actuated as soon as the metal-air battery is demanded by a load. The in-cell air management can not only supply air for reactions but also shut the system to preserve materials when they are not in service.

  • Patent number: 6219124
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device that comprises a thin film transistor array panel including a voltage transfer circuit that includes a pad region for receiving a common voltage, a short region for transferring the common voltage, and a center region that connects the pad region to the short region. The center region includes a composite conductive layer comprising a first electrically conductive layer of a first resistance and a second electrically conductive layer of a second resistance, wherein the first resistance is less than the second resistance. The first electrically conductive layer of the composite conductive layer preferably comprises a material of relatively low resistance, such as aluminum or an aluminum alloy. In addition, the first electrically conductive layer may include an anodic oxide layer for inhibiting hillock formations.

  • Patent number: 5805246
Abstract: Methods of manufacturing liquid crystal display devices with reduced susceptibility to electrostatic discharge faults include delaying the removal of an electrostatic shorting bar from a liquid crystal display substrate until after a display driver has been electrically coupled to the control lines (e.g., data and gate lines) on the display substrate. Thus, in contrast to the prior art, electrostatic discharge faults can also be prevented during the step of electrically coupling display drivers to the display substrate. A preferred method includes the steps of forming a first substrate comprising a thin-film transistor display region, a plurality of data and gate lines coupled to the display region and an electrostatic shorting bar electrically interconnecting the data and gate lines together, and then electrically connecting a second substrate (e.g.
