  • Publication number: 20200107264
Abstract: Devices and methods for prolonging battery life of an inventory tracking tag. The tag determines its location and reports to remote server over a cellular data connection using the cellular communication subsystem. The remote server assesses whether the tag is within range of a short-range communication network, such as a WiFi network, and sends an instruction message over the cellular data connection to instruct the tag to use the first short-range communication network. The instruction message may include credentials for connecting to the network. The tag disables the cellular communication subsystem, enables the short-range communication subsystem, and requests a connection to the first short-range communication network for the purpose of sending future location reports to the remote server.

  • Publication number: 20200019926
Abstract: A method at a computing device for attributing a cause to a border delay, the method including determining that a vehicle has entered a border geofence; obtaining sensor data from the vehicle; and correlating the sensor data with the determining that the vehicle has entered the geofence to attribute the cause to the border delay.

  • Publication number: 20190391634
Abstract: Described herein is a method for asset tracking using an asset tracking device. The method comprises detecting a trigger to perform a co-location check; in response to the trigger, determining the asset tracking device is co-located with a carrier en route to a destination; determining a low power duration; and causing the asset tracking device to enter a low power mode for the low power duration.

  • Publication number: 20190387378
Abstract: Systems, methods, and software can be used to provide inter-vehicle data communications for multimedia content. In some aspects, a method is disclosed comprising: receiving, at a first vehicle, a multimedia content request message from a second vehicle, wherein the multimedia content request message indicates a target location at which multimedia content is requested; determining, a current location of the first vehicle; in response to determining that the current location matching the target location, generating the multimedia content; and transmitting, by the first vehicle, the multimedia content.

  • Patent number: 10477600
Abstract: A hub device that monitors characteristics of a transportation platform, such as a tractor trailer used for transporting goods, may establish connections with a plurality of external sensors. In order to simplify the pairing process between the hub devices and the external sensors, the hub device may be receiving IDs of the sensors to pair to from a remote server. A technician may physically scan tags, for example a barcode or an NFC tag, of the sensors and hub device, which are then transmitted to the remote server in order to identify which hub and sensors should be paired.

  • Publication number: 20190340719
Abstract: A system and method for tracking and predicting usage of assets, such as shipping containers, trailers, or vehicles, based on usage data collected from a fleet of assets using mobile transceivers. During an evaluation term, a first plurality of messages comprising asset usage statuses is sent from the mobile transceivers to a tracking system. The usage statuses are used to compute a predicted quantity of assets expected to be used in a subsequent term. The predicted quantity is then allocated between a first subset of assets and a second subset of assets according to a minimal cost for the predicted quantity. In some embodiments, the first subset of assets comprising assets is associated with the mobile transceivers, and the second subset of assets comprising assets is not associated with the mobile transceivers.

  • Publication number: 20190313204
Abstract: A method at a network element for creating a geofence shape, the method including creating a geofenced area based on location information, the geofenced area having a default shape and size; receiving from a sensor apparatus, an event report, the event report including a location; associating the location of the event report with the geofenced area; determining that a number of event reports associated with the geofenced area exceeds a threshold; and creating a geofence shape for the geofenced area based on locations of the event reports.

  • Publication number: 20190313205
Abstract: A method at a network element for creating a candidate geofence, the method including receiving a message at the network element, the message including geographic coordinates and an indication of an event value; adding the event value to a running value for a geographic region associated with the geographic coordinates, creating a total value; determining that the total value exceeds a threshold; and creating the candidate geofence for the geographic area.
