  • Patent number: 11483357
Abstract: A method executed by a UE communicatively connected to a first 3rd Generation Partnership Project (3GPP) network utilizing an advanced Radio Access Technology (RAT) is provided. The methods includes the following steps: receiving a message from the first 3GPP network, which indicates that the first 3GPP network supports IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) voice over Packet Switched (PS) sessions; and providing an indication that fallback of the UE to a second 3GPP network utilizing a legacy RAT is disabled to the first 3GPP network in response to the receiving of the message.

  • Patent number: 10873535
Abstract: Various solutions for avoiding packet fragmentation with respect to user equipment and network apparatus in mobile communications are described. An apparatus may determine a first maximum transmission unit (MTU) configuration of a session via a first network interface. The apparatus may determine a second MTU configuration of the session via a second network interface. The apparatus may determine a tunnel overhead size between the second network interface and the first network interface. The apparatus may select a transport protocol to generate a packet according to the second MTU configuration and the tunnel overhead size. The apparatus may transmit the packet via the second network interface.

  • Publication number: 20190394245
Abstract: Examples pertaining to indication of user equipment (UE) voice capabilities using non-access stratum (NAS) signaling in 5th Generation (5G) mobile communications are described. A processor of an apparatus (e.g., a user equipment (UE)) transmits an indication of a voice domain preference in a 5th Generation System (5GS) to a communication entity of a 5G mobile network. The processor then receives a voice service from the 5G mobile network responsive to the transmission of the indication.

  • Publication number: 20190149583
Abstract: A method of improving initial IMS registration after 403 Forbidden response is proposed. A UE sends a SIP register to an IMS server for initiating IMS registration. The initial IMS registration fails and the UE receives a SIP message with a 403 Forbidden response code. In the 403 Forbidden response code, the IMS server includes an XML body and uses the <reason> header value of the XML body to indicate an error type (e.g., temporary or permanent) followed by a retry-after timer value. As a result, the network can indicate to UE whether the IMS registration rejection is permanent or is due to some temporary internal failure. By adding the retry-after timer value, the network can indicate to UE when to retry the next IMS registration.

  • Patent number: 9167373
Abstract: Disclosed are methods, apparatus and computer program products that provide an enhanced multi-SIM wireless communication device. For example, a method includes providing in a wireless communication device a protocol stack software component composed of a first native protocol stack software and a second native protocol stack software each comprising layer 1, layer 2 and layer 3 protocol stack functionality. The first native protocol stack software and the second native protocol stack software are each associated with a respective subscriber identity module and are independent of one another. The method further includes providing in the wireless communication device a common software component that includes protocol stack framework software elements, a hardware arbitration layer and a hardware adaptation layer.

  • Patent number: 9088953
Abstract: A wireless device has a plurality of radio systems. The current priority of each of the radio systems is determined. An upper bound for the transmit power of each of the radio systems is set in dependence on at least the current priorities of the radio systems and a current maximum permitted transmit power of the wireless device. The upper bounds for the transmit power of each of the radio systems are variable over time and are set such that the sum of the upper bounds does not exceed the current maximum permitted transmit power of the wireless device. For each of the radio systems, the transmit power of that radio system is limited such that the respective upper bound for the transmit power for that radio system is not exceeded.

  • Patent number: 8725101
Abstract: A wireless device has at least first and second radio systems. A first of the radio systems provides an indication for a second of the radio systems that it is transmitting or is about to transmit. The actual interference caused by transmissions by the first radio system to operation of the second radio system is measured, and/or the likely interference caused by transmissions by the first radio system to operation of the second radio system is estimated. The behavior of at least one of the first and second radio systems is modified in order to reduce the interference depending on the measured actual interference or estimated likely interference.

  • Publication number: 20130344918
Abstract: A wireless device has at least a first modem and a second modern and at least a first SIM and a second SIM. The first modem supports a different level of service than the second modem. A processing system of the wireless device selectively reconfigures the connection of the first modem and the second modem to the SIMs. In a first mapping configuration, the first SIM is connected to the first modem and the second SIM is connected to the second modem. In a second mapping configuration, the second SIM is disconnected from the second modem, and the first SIM is disconnected from the first modem and is connected to the second modem thereby to obtain a different level of service for the first SIM than in the first mapping configuration.

  • Patent number: 8606216
Abstract: A wireless device has two or more radio systems and SIM channels. At least a part of the first radio system can be shut down to reduce the power consumed by the device. This occurs if the first radio system is unable to obtain suitable service for the first SIM channel and the second radio system is at least one of: (i) providing at least some service on the second SIM channel for the device, and (ii) capable of searching for service for the first radio system.

  • Patent number: 8576901
Abstract: A modem is provided for a wireless device that is capable of providing service for at least two SIMs. The modem has at least a first set of modem components and a second set of modem components. The modem selectively reconfigures the arrangement of the plural sets of modem components. In a first configuration, the first set of modem components provides wireless connection service for a first SIM of the wireless device and the second set of modem components provides wireless connection service for a second SIM of the wireless device. This allows active wireless connections to be made on behalf of both SIMs simultaneously by the sets of modem components. In a second configuration, the first set of modem components and the second set of modem components provide wireless connection service for the first SIM.
