  • Publication number: 20120062448
Abstract: A display apparatus includes a plurality of pixel units and each pixel unit includes a substrate, a first electrode, a second electrode, an image display part and a protective layer. The first electrode is formed on the substrate. The second electrode is formed over the first electrode while interposing a first insulating layer therebetween to define a TSC (tunnel-shaped cavity) extending in a first direction between the first and second electrodes. The image display part is provided in the TSC to display an image according to an electric field generated by the first and second electrodes. The protective layer covers the second electrode and seals the TSC. The display apparatus having the above structure is manufactured by forming the first electrode, a sacrificial layer and the second electrode and forming the image display part by removing the sacrificial layer.

  • Publication number: 20110216259
Abstract: A display panel includes a first substrate, a second substrate facing the first substrate, and a liquid crystal layer. The first substrate includes a plurality of pixels, each having at least one gray scale expression unit to express at least two gray scales. The liquid crystal layer is interposed between the first and second substrates and subject to a phase transition depending on a voltage generated in relation to the gray scale expression unit. The gray scale expression unit includes a data line, a gate line crossing the data line and insulated from the data line, a switching device connected to the data line and the gate line, a first pixel electrode connected to the switching device, at least one coupling capacitor connected to the first pixel electrode in parallel, and at least one second pixel electrode connected to the first pixel electrode in parallel through the coupling capacitor.

  • Patent number: 7931838
Abstract: Nano-composite membranes and methods for making them are described. The nano-composite membranes a made from a layer of oriented carbon nanotubes fixed in a polymeric matrix. Methods for efficient, facile, and inexpensive fabrication of the nano-composite membranes using a filtration method are also described. The carbon nanotubes may also be modified with chemical functional groups to promote their orientation in the carbon nanotube layer or to confer to them other properties.

  • Publication number: 20070022877
Abstract: Mixed matrix membranes are prepared from mesoporous silica (and certain other silica) and membrane-forming polymers (such as polysulfone), in a void free fashion where either no voids or voids of less than 100 angstroms are present at the interface of the membrane-forming polymer and the silica. Such silica-containing mixed matrix membranes are particularly useful for their selectivity (such as carbon dioxide selectivity) and permeability. Methods for separating carbon dioxide are provided.
