  • Patent number: 10027453
Abstract: A user apparatus having a primary cell on a licensed band is requested to scan an unlicensed band, the scanning being performed with a raster. The thus obtained availability of the unlicensed band is used for determining a secondary cell. To improve the reparation of the traffic between the primary cell and the secondary cell, timing information measurements are carried out which can be exploited to avoid interferences between the primary and the secondary cell.

  • Patent number: 9439103
Abstract: Methods, apparatuses, and systems are provided for modem coordination. A method may include establishing a coordinated communication session with a base station on a first communication channel. The method may further include causing transmission, to the base station, of an indication of an occurrence of an irregular transmission of data on a second communication channel. The second communication channel may be with a station logically separated from the base station. The base station maybe configured to respond to the indication of the occurrence of the irregular transmission by modifying transmission on the first communication channel to avoid interfering with the irregular transmission. The method may additionally include causing transmission, to the base station, of an indication of completion of the irregular transmission to allow the base station to resume normal transmission on the first communication channel. Corresponding apparatuses and systems are also provided.

  • Patent number: 9258769
Abstract: Apparatus, methods and computer program products operate an electronic device to receive through from a wireless communications network a prioritized list of radio access technologies; to store the prioritized list of radio access technologies in a memory of the electronic device; and to consult the prioritized list of radio access technologies during cell selection and reselection operations. In variants the radio access technologies listed in the prioritized list of radio access technologies can be E-UTRAN, UTRAN or GERAN. In a further variant to consult the prioritized list may mean to compare at least one of a signal measurement and a quality measurement with at least one threshold established for a certain radio access technology appearing in the prioritized list, and to select/reselect to the certain radio access technology only if the at least one of the signal measurement and the quality measurement exceeds the threshold.

  • Patent number: 9220041
Abstract: Relative sizes of neighbor cells are identified, and measurement reporting of the neighbor cells is differentiated in dependence on at least the relative size. In one embodiment the relative sizes are identified by a frequency layer and/or physical cell identity sent by a serving cell. The differentiated reporting may be implemented by using different values, based on the relative sizes, of a measurement or reporting parameter or a scaling factor (such as Treselection or time to trigger) which adjusts either of those parameters. In one embodiment the differentiated measurement reporting is conditional on a user equipment which sends the measurement reports being classified as fast moving, and in another is further conditional on it also having no active data transfer applications ongoing. In various embodiments, detecting and measuring of small neighbor cells (and thus their reporting) is omitted, or measurements can be collected normally and only the reporting is omitted.

  • Patent number: 8818321
Abstract: A method, receiving device, network element, system and computer program product for controlling discontinuous reception at a receiving device of a communication network are disclosed. A regular discontinuous reception cycle of a discontinuous reception scheme is set, and this regular discontinuous reception cycle is switched to a shorter temporary discontinuous reception cycle or is switched off, in response to an event which triggers a reply of the communication network to the receiving device. Thereby, delays of network replies can be shortened or controlled in case discontinuous reception (DRX) cycles are implemented at the receiving device.
