  • Patent number: 6625207
Abstract: In a low power consumption data transmission circuit and method, and a liquid crystal display apparatus using the same, 24-bit display data is transmitted from a transceiver circuit to a receiver circuit through a transmission line so that the display data is displayed on a liquid crystal panel. The transceiver circuit has a holding circuit including an 8-stage shift register. The transceiver circuit outputs 24-bit data to the transmission line by use of first and second output circuits when data different from data held in the holding circuit is to be transmitted from the transmission line and outputs data indicative of a hold position in the holding circuit from the second output circuit when the same data as that held in the holding circuit is to be transmitted from the transmission line.

  • Patent number: 6549182
Abstract: A display device for displaying display data including a display panel; a driving circuit which generates a gray-scale voltage corresponding to the display data and outputs the gray-scale voltage to the display panel; a scan driver which scans a line on the display panel to which the gray-scale voltage is output; and a control circuit which outputs the display data to the driving circuit and outputs a display control signal to the scan driver. • Patent number: 6448976
Abstract: A liquid crystal drive circuit, which makes it possible to display low resolution display data on a high resolution liquid crystal panel while expanding and/or centering the display data, is provided. A multiscan control signal is inputted to a latch address control circuit and a data control circuit to control latch signals and the display data so as to latch single pixel data into a plurality of latches at the same time. The display data are latched with the expanding and/or centering operation, and outputted in synchronization with a line clock after being converted to gray scale voltages. Accordingly, it is possible to realize the lateral expansion and/or the centering operation. Further, it is also possible to realize a longitudinal expansion by adding a latch circuit between a latch circuit and a liquid crystal applied voltage generation circuit, and by outputting the data in synchronization with an expanded line clock.

  • Patent number: 6396464
Abstract: The liquid-crystal display control apparatus provided by the present invention comprises a display RAM unit 21 for storing character codes, character-generator RAM and ROM units 22 and 23 for storing character font patterns and a segment RAM unit 24 for storing picture patterns such as marks and icons. When displaying a character, the following display control is carried out. First of all, a character code is read out from the display RAM unit 21 at a display address generated by a display-address counter 25. The character code is then used in conjunction with a raster address output by a line-address counter 26 for reading out a character font pattern from the character-generator RAM unit 22 or the character-generator ROM unit 23. When displaying a picture pattern such as a mark or an icon, on the other hand, the following display control is carried out. Display control information is read out from the segment RAM unit 24 at an address generated by the display-address counter 25.

  • Patent number: 6392619
Abstract: In a data transfer circuit, a hold signal generating circuit generates and outputs a hold signal Hold when transmission data is equal to transmission data one cycle before, and sets a 3-state output buffer for transmission data to high-impedance state, while, in a data reception circuit, when the hold signal Hold is valid, a data reception circuit outputs the reception data held, thereby power consumption in a data bus which is terminated with a terminal resistor is reduced.

  • Patent number: 6275207
Abstract: There are provided a liquid crystal driving circuit and a liquid crystal display device in which the display brightness and color variation to input display data values can be adjusted. Input display data of one line period are taken into a latch circuit (1) with a latch signal output from a latch address control circuit, and latch circuit (1) data are taken into a latch circuit (2) at the timing of a line clock. Further, the latch circuit (2) data are input to a decode circuit. In accordance with set data output from a set register which sets the set register setting data with a set register setting clock, a gray-scale voltage which is matched with data of each pixel is selected and output as a selection voltage from the decode circuit. The selection voltage is buffered in an amplifying circuit, and then a liquid crystal applying voltage is output.
