Abstract: The liquid-crystal display control apparatus provided by the present invention includes a display RAM unit for storing character codes, character-generator RAM and ROM units for storing character font patterns, and a segment RAM unit for storing picture patterns such as marks and icons. When displaying a character, the following display control is carried out. First of all, a character code is read out from the display RAM unit at a display address generated by a display-address counter. The character code is then used in conjunction with a raster address output by a line-address counter for reading out a character font pattern from the character-generator RAM unit or the character-generator ROM unit. When displaying a picture pattern such as a mark or an icon, on the other hand, the following display control is carried out. Display control information is read out from the segment RAM unit at an address generated by the display-address counter.

  • Patent number: 6219020
Abstract: A liquid crystal display device of the present invention capable of enlarging and displaying to a high picture quality even when display data having a lower resolution than a liquid crystal panel is inputted is provided with storage element groups every drain line within latches of a liquid crystal driver. A portion of the storage element groups simultaneously captures display data. In doing so, the same liquid crystal apply voltage is outputted from drain lines corresponding to these storage element groups. Storage element groups corresponding to neighboring drain lines then simultaneously capture display data so as to enlarge an image in the horizontal direction. The rate of enlargement can be regulated by changing the number of storage element groups simultaneously capturing display data.

  • Patent number: 6151005
Abstract: A liquid-crystal display system comprising a voltage divider circuit, and a gate circuit. The voltage divider circuit divides n voltages of n different voltage levels supplied from a power source for liquid-crystal displays, into m voltages of m different voltage levels (n<m), n and m are integers large than 1 corresponding to display data. A control signal commands the gate circuit to deliver a first voltage during the first period of one horizontal scanning cycle, and to deliver a second voltage during the second period thereof subsequent to the first period. In response to the control signal, the gate circuit corrects a signal corresponding to the display data and delivers the corrected signal during the first period so as to select a circuit which has a time constant not exceeding that of a circuit for delivering a voltage corresponding to the display data, from among circuits for supplying the m divisional voltages, and it delivers the signal left intact, during the second period.

  • Patent number: 5633659
Abstract: A display unit which can detect the X coordinate of a position with which a pen is in contact more efficiently. In a non-display period, X-electrodes are grouped into N regions according to the X-electrode arrangement, each region is divided into two parts according to the X-electrode arrangement, and selection voltage is applied to the X-electrodes belonging to each part having larger X coordinates. The process is repeated in order while N is doubled from one to the half value of the number of the X-electrodes of a liquid crystal panel. If a pen coming in contact with the liquid crystal panel and detecting X-electrode selection voltage detects selection voltage with respect to each N value, the Nth most significant bit of the X coordinate of the position with which the pen is in contact is set to `1.` If the pen does not detect selection voltage, the bit is set to `0.
