  • Patent number: 5976555
Abstract: Skin care compositions comprising an oil-in-water emulsion base containing retinoids and possessing good physical and chemical stability. More particularly, said skin care compositions contain (a) an emulsifier system selected from the group consisting of: (i) a mixture of glyceryl stearate and polyethylene glycol 100 stearate; (ii) cetearyl alcohol and cetearyl glucoside; (iii) a mixture of a polyethylene glycol ethers of stearyl alcohol; and (iv) a mixture of sorbitan stearate and polysorbate 60; (b) a co-emulsifier selected from the group consisting of cetyl alcohol, stearyl alcohol and mixtures thereof; (c) an oil phase present in the amount of from about 5 to about 20 percent by weight of the total emulsion composition which contains (i) a light, dry absorbable oil and (ii) substantive, emollient oils or waxes, wherein the light, dry absorbable oil and the substantive oil or wax are present in a ratio of from about 1:3 for about 10:1.

  • Patent number: 5883668
Abstract: A solid-state image pickup apparatus comprising a pixel array made up a plurality of pixels two-dimensionally arranged and horizontal and vertical scanning circuits, each scanning circuit having an arbitrary-pixel readout function of reading a pixel signal from an arbitrary area that is a portion of the effective pixel area of the pixel array, each scanning circuit comprising: a shift register comprising a plurality of shift register units that are cascaded; a memory unit constructed of a latch for storing the output of the shift register unit; a memory switch connected between the shift register unit and the input terminal of the memory unit; a transfer switch connected between the shift register unit and the output terminal of the memory unit.

  • Patent number: 5734304
Abstract: A wave filter having two or more dielectric resonators of substantially tubular shape juxtaposed on a base structure with their longitudinal orientations reversed alternately. The resonator terminals are therefore staggered on both sides of the juxtaposition of the resonators and thus better electrically isolated from one another than if all the resonators are oriented in the same longitudinal direction. The base structure is of ceramic material, having coupling elements, terminals, and all necessary electrical connections formed thereon or embedded therein.

  • Patent number: 4901044
Abstract: A quarter-wave distributed-constant dielectric filter or resonator having a ceramic body which typically is composed principally of barium titanate. The ceramic filter body has one or more resonance holes extending therethrough. A conductive covering of silver or the like on the filter body has a portion formed on the surface defining each resonance hole. Mounted in each resonance hole is a prefabricated capacitor having a first terminal extending from within the resonance hole. The second terminal is electrically coupled to the conductive covering on the surface of the resonance hole. The capacitance of the capacitor or capacitors can be known before they are mounted to the filter body, so that the filter is readily manufacturable to exact electrical characteristics desired.

  • Patent number: 4502515
Abstract: A useful dry battery driven liquid pump for pumping liquid such as kerosene or the like into a tank for an oil heater or the like very conveniently includes a combination of a motor and a liquid pump disposed at the lower end part of a suction tube, a plurality of dry cells contained in a dry battery casing, a liquid surface level detector disposed at the lower end part of a delivery tube and a control circuit which controls operation of the liquid pump properly in response to an output from the liquid surface level detector. The liquid surface level detector includes a prism formed at the lower end of a cylindrical detector body, a light beam generating element and a light beam receiving element. The liquid pump is driven as long as the prism does not get wet with liquid and thus light is reflected from the inner optical surface of the prism toward the light beam receiving element.
