  • Patent number: 11361026
Abstract: A file access system for user defined functions (UDFs) can be implemented on a distributed database system. The system can store UDF interfaces and file reference objects that can be called by other users. Upon a UDF being called, files on a stage, one or more interface objects (e.g., InputStream), and file reference objects can be implemented by execution nodes of the distributed database system. The execution nodes can implement multiple threads that are authenticated and can download file data from a staging location concurrently.

  • Patent number: 11354331
Abstract: A database export system exports data using a plurality of nodes that process the data to generate structured result files that are partitioned by an export parameter in an export request. The database export system distributes the data and merges the files to avoid small file creation and increase processing speed via parallelism. The database export system generates the result files of a specified maximum size in a final format, where the files are processed merged in a temporary file format. The parallel processing is optimized and constrained per the amount of processing nodes, available memory, requested final file sizes, and operation based ordering to complete data exports in a scalable multi-stage approach.

  • Patent number: 11354316
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for selective scanning of external partitions. In an embodiment, a database platform receives a query directed at least in part to an external table stored on an external data storage platform. The external table is partitioned into partitions corresponding to storage locations in the external data storage platform. The database platform prunes, using external-table metadata that is stored by the database platform and that maps the partitions of the external table to the storage locations in the external data storage platform, those partitions that do not potentially contain data that satisfies the query. The database platform identifies data that satisfies the query by scanning any one or more of the partitions of the external table that were not pruned, and responds to the query at least in part with the identified data that satisfies the query.

  • Patent number: 11347728
Abstract: The subject technology receives a notification that a modification has been made to an external table, the modification comprising inserting at least one row of new data to the external table, the at least one row corresponding to a first micro-partition that includes a first portion of data from the external table prior to the inserting. The subject technology, in response to the notification indicating the modification to the external table, generates a new micro-partition different from the first micro-partition, the new micro-partition including the inserted at least one row of new data and the first portion of data from the external table. The subject technology generates a refreshed materialized view based at least in part on the generated new micro-partition such that the refreshed materialized view comprises a representation of the external table after the modification has been made.

  • Patent number: 11347319
Abstract: Gesture-controlled virtual reality systems and methods of controlling the same are disclosed herein. An example apparatus includes an on-body sensor to output first signals associated with at least one of movement of a body part of a user or a position of the body part relative to a virtual object and an off-body sensor to output second signals associated with at least one of the movement or the position relative to the virtual object. The apparatus also includes at least one processor to generate gesture data based on at least one of the first or second signals, generate position data based on at least one of the first or second signals, determine an intended action of the user relative to the virtual object based on the position data and the gesture data, and generate an output of the virtual object in response to the intended action.

  • Publication number: 20220150252
Abstract: A command to load or unload data at a storage location is received. In response to the command, a storage integration object associated with the storage location is identified. The storage integration object identifies a cloud identity object that corresponds to a cloud identity that is associated with a proxy identity object corresponding to a proxy identity granted permission to access the storage location. The data is loaded or unloaded at the storage location by assuming the proxy identity.

  • Publication number: 20220114217
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for population of a file-catalog table for a file stage in a user account on a data platform. In an embodiment, a data platform receives, from a client associated with a user account, a request to populate a file-catalog table of the user account based on a plurality of files stored in a file stage of the user account. The data platform responsively executes a list-files table function with respect to the file stage to generate a database-table object having a row for each file stored in the file stage. The data platform populates the file-catalog table of the user account based on the database-table object generated by the list-files table function.

  • Publication number: 20220075776
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for pruning external data. In an embodiment, a database platform receives a query directed at least in part to external data in an external table on an external data storage platform. The external table includes partitions that correspond to storage locations in a source directory of the external data storage platform. The storage locations contain files that contain the external data. The database platform identifies, from external-table metadata that is stored by the database platform and that maps the partitions of the external table to the storage locations in the source directory, a subset of the partitions as including data that potentially satisfies the query. The database platform identifies data that satisfies the query by scanning the identified subset of the partitions, and responds to the query at least in part with the identified data that satisfies the query.

  • Patent number: 11269869
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for processing queries over external tables. In an embodiment, a database platform receives a query directed at least to data in an external table stored in a storage platform that is external to the database platform. The database platform uses metadata that summarizes the data in the external table to identify one or more partitions of the external table as potentially including data satisfying the query, and generates a query plan that includes a plurality of discrete subtasks that collectively include instructions to scan the identified one or more partitions of the external table for data satisfying the query. The database platform assigns, based on the metadata, the plurality of discrete subtasks to one or more nodes in an execution platform, and refreshes the metadata in response to a threshold number of modifications being made to the external table.

  • Patent number: 11269868
Abstract: Systems, methods, and devices for automated maintenance of external tables in database systems are disclosed. A method includes receiving, by a database platform, read access to content in an external data storage platform that is separate from the database platform. The method includes defining an external table based on the content in the external data storage platform. The method includes connecting the database platform to the external table such that the database platform has read access for the external table and does not have write access for the external table. The method includes generating metadata for the external table, the metadata comprising information about data stored in the external table. The method includes receiving a notification that a modification has been made to the content in the external data storage platform, the modification comprising one or more of an addition of a file, a deletion of a file, or an update to a file in a source location for the external table.

  • Patent number: 11222071
Abstract: Disclosed herein are systems and methods for implementing a file-catalog table for a file stage. In an embodiment, a data platform receives, from a client, a request that the data platform create a file-catalog table for a file stage of a user account associated with the client, where the file stage contains one or more files at a storage location. The user account includes a file-stage object that corresponds to the file stage and that includes an indication of the storage location. In response to receiving the request, the data platform creates the file-catalog table for the file stage. The file-catalog table lists the one or more files in the file stage, and includes at least two different metadata properties of the files listed in the file-catalog table.

  • Patent number: 11216581
Abstract: Provided herein are systems and methods for secure document sharing in a database system. For example, a system includes at least one hardware processor and a memory. The memory stores instructions that cause the at least one hardware processor to perform operations including receiving a query for a data set from a client device. The data set is shared in a data exchange by a data provider. The operations further include retrieving a data file responsive to the query for the data set. A security function is applied to the retrieved data file to generate a modified data file. A scoped uniform resource locator (URL) associated with the modified data file is encoded for transmission to the client device. The scoped URL includes an encrypted hash with a storage location of the modified data file.
