  • Publication number: 20140239688
Abstract: A mobile task chair with a mobile base structure, a control mechanism, a seat bottom, and a seat back. A physical setting control mechanism is adjustable to control a physical setting of the mobile task chair, and a visual indicator provides a visual indication, such as an illuminated visual indication, of the physical setting of the mobile task chair as adjusted by the physical setting control mechanism. The physical setting control mechanism can be pivoting resistance adjustment mechanism, and the visual indicator can indicate a selected pivoting resistance based on a resistance sensed by a resistance sensor. Multiple physical setting control mechanisms and a corresponding multiplicity of separate visual indicators can be provided. The visual indicator can be selectively induced as by touch and can be effective for a given time period. Recommended settings can be provided and automatically or selectively induced.

  • Publication number: 20140238169
Abstract: A pivoting mechanism with gross and fine adjustment with a housing, an elongate shaft pivotally retained by the housing, resiliently deformable members retained by the housing, cam members coupled to the shaft wherein the cam members are disposed to deform the resiliently deformable members when the cam members are pivoted, and a locking slide bar for selectively causing the cam members to pivot with the shaft to produce gross adjustments in pivoting resistance. First and second ends of the shaft can act as an output interface for outputting the pivoting resistance exhibited by the shaft to a seat back structure, a seat bottom structure, or some other structure. A threaded rod rotated by a handle can adjust an initial deformation of the first resiliently deformable member for fine pivoting resistance adjustment.

  • Publication number: 20140183922
Abstract: An adjustable armrest with an central core with a longitudinal channel, a locking slide slidably received in the longitudinal channel, and locking members retained by the central core. The locking slide has a first position wherein the locking members are pressed to a position projecting outboard of the elongate central core and a second position wherein the locking members are permitted to retract within the elongate central core. An elongate core sleeve receives the elongate central core, and the core sleeve has a plurality of longitudinally spaced inlets and ridges. A first arm portion is fixed in relation to the elongate central core, and a second arm portion fixed in relation to the elongate core sleeve. The first arm portion can be extended and retracted in relation to the second arm portion by an actuation of the locking slide from the first position to the second position.

  • Publication number: 20140183924
Abstract: An upholstered seat with flexible pelvic support having a seat bottom with a seat pan, upholstery, and resiliently deflectable pelvic support structures retained at least partially within the central area of the seat pan. Plural resiliently deflectable fingers can project to within a left portion of the central area and plural resiliently deflectable fingers can project to within a right portion of the central area. The resiliently deflectable fingers can have different deflection resistances to permit hyper-localized control over the resilient support provided. A U-shaped rigidifying member secured to the seat pan establishes rigidified lateral and posterior portions of the seat pan. A resiliently compressible foam structure can have a U-shaped outer portion and a softer inner portion to facilitate a cradling of a seat occupant. A support and positioning member can be retained by a seat back in a fixed angular orientation relative to the seat bottom.

  • Publication number: 20140183914
Abstract: A seat with pelvic support having a seat bottom, a panel of elastomeric material retained under an initial tension spanning a framework of the seat bottom, and a resiliently deflectable pelvic support structure retained in spaced relation from the panel of elastomeric material. The resiliently deflectable pelvic support structure provides supplemental support to the seat occupant when the panel of elastomeric material is sufficiently deflected. The resiliently deflectable pelvic support structure can be formed by a plurality of resiliently deflectable fingers. The fingers, which can have different deflection resistances to establish hyper-localized resistance control, can project outboard from a central member or inboard from the framework. A U-shaped rigidifying member can be secured to the framework, and a seat back can retain a support and positioning member in a fixed angular orientation relative to the seat bottom.

  • Patent number: 8602668
Abstract: A computer keyboard system with alternative exercise capabilities for the prevention of repetitive stress injuries in a user. The computer keyboard system has a computer keyboard and first and second non-typing, laterally movable exercise mechanisms retained by the computer keyboard. The exercise mechanisms are intermittently actuable as an alternative physical exercise to typing movements to prevent repetitive stress injuries. Operation of the keyboard can be impaired after a period of operation as measured by a typing parameter, such as keystrokes or typing time, and restored through actuation of the non-typing exercise mechanism.

  • Publication number: 20130018510
Abstract: A system of selectively networked extension and retraction arrangements, each with local controls for individually controlling a selective extension and retraction of the arrangement. A central control adjusts the plurality of extension and refraction arrangements between a local control condition and a networked condition and centrally controls a selective extension and refraction of the plurality of extension and retraction arrangements when they are in a networked condition. Individual control over the selective extension and retraction of the arrangements by the local controls is prevented when the arrangements are in the networked condition. Each arrangement has a linking control interface module electrically associated with a motor for propelling extension and retraction, and a control system interface module is electrically interposed between the central control and the linking control interface modules of the arrangements.

The door is slidable between an open position and a closed position for at least partially closing the aperture in the framework. A pocket door is pivotally coupled to an arm aperture portion in the door, and a flipper door is pivotally coupled to an arm aperture portion in a framework. The flipper door and the pocket door interlock to be retained in closed positions to seal the arm aperture when the extension and retraction arrangement is in a storage configuration. The door is articulated with multiple sections and is guided by drive pins engaged with drive slots and slide pins that slide along guide surfaces of drive path subassemblies.

  • Publication number: 20120149263
Abstract: An elastomeric mesh fabric with weft strands interwoven with warp threads with the goal of imparting reduced wear on clothing and other articles in contact therewith. Each warp thread has first and second elastomeric helically wound strands, and the band-shaped weft strands comprise a resilient yarn. The weft strands are disposed in alternating first and second patterns that minimize contact area between the weft strands and clothing and other articles. Seat backs, seat bottoms, and other furniture components can be formed by retaining the elastomeric mesh fabric relative to frameworks.
