  • Patent number: 8791699
Abstract: This disclosure is generally drawn to methods, systems, appliances and/or apparati related to obtaining magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) images. More specifically, the disclosure relates to obtaining MRI images using arterial spin labeling (ASL) and blood-oxygen-level dependence functional magnetic resonance imaging (BOLD-fMRI) techniques. In some examples, a method of obtaining magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) image(s) is provided. An example method may include providing arterial spin labeling (ASL) labeling, obtaining at least one ASL acquisition after ASL labeling, and obtaining at least one blood-oxygen-level dependence functional magnetic resonance imaging (BOLD-fMRI) acquisition after ASL labeling.

  • Publication number: 20130231564
Abstract: An ultrasound system for planning a surgical implantation of a prosthetic aortic valve produces three dimensional images of the aortic root region of a patient. An electronic model of an aortic root is accessed and fitted to the aortic root in a three dimensional ultrasound image. Preferably the aortic root model exhibits closed contour cross-sections which are fitted to the endothelial lining of the aortic root in the ultrasound image. A medial axis of the fitted model is identified and radii measured from the medical axis to the border of the fitted model. The radii are joined to identify a surface forming a mesh model fitted to the aortic root anatomy of the patient. The shape and dimensions of the fitted model may be used to fabricate a custom prosthetic valve for aortic valve replacement.

  • Publication number: 20100086289
Abstract: Modular tankless water heater apparatus designed for use in a system including a water supply conduit and a hot water conduit. The apparatus includes a heating tube assembly with a plurality of tubes positioned in parallel juxtaposition and connected adjacent the ends into a series connected configuration to form a continuous fluid passage. A heating element is enclosed in each tube and extends between the ends with each heating element including an electrical connector and an electrical control. A programmable electrical power controller is connected to the electrical controls of the heating elements and to flow sensor and heat sensor apparatus positioned in the continuous fluid passage. The controller is programmed to activate the electrical controls one at a time in response to a demand signal from the flow sensor and heat sensor apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20100046934
Abstract: A fluid heating system with a heat exchanger includes an elongated cylindrical tube with an inlet end and an opposed end. An array of film resistive elements is positioned on the outer surface of the cylindrical tube and extends circumferentially at least partially around the outer surface. A spiral channel guide is coaxially positioned within the cylindrical tube so as to force fluid flowing in the tube into a spiral path at least partially against an inner surface of the cylindrical tube. The spiral channel guide directs fluid flowing in the cylindrical tube so as to cause turbulence to occur in the flow and increase thermal transfer from the inner surface of the cylindrical tube to the fluid flowing in the tube.

  • Publication number: 20100012658
Abstract: An application for a dual-compartment container includes an outer surface with a first containment area defined by the outer surface, a first end surface and a divider distal from the first end surface. There is a second containment area defined by the outer surface, a second end surface and the divider, distal from the second end surface. The first containment area is separated from the second containment area by the divider. A first access mechanism is interfaced to the first containment area providing access to a first product stored within the first containment area and a second access mechanism is interfaced to the second containment area providing access to a second product stored within the second containment area.

  • Patent number: 7025627
Abstract: There is disclosed an apparatus for concealing, connecting and organizing power cords and signal cables from multiple devices in an equipment installation comprising a compact enclosure for use on a desktop that has first and second interior side panels facing each other without obstruction across the floor of the enclosure, and a hinged, reinforced, load-bearing top lid. A plurality of AC power outlets is disposed on either or both of the first and second interior side panels and connected in a power circuit via an ON/OFF switch to a power supply cord. The power circuit includes circuits for suppressing interference and transients. The enclosure includes space for containing and plugging in compact power supply blocks and storage space between the first and second interior panels for connecting, organizing and storing excess lengths of the cords and cables.
