  • Publication number: 20080300695
Abstract: A computer program to assist in programming an industrial control system provides a programmer with a functional description of the data of low-level devices in the industrial controller, as gleaned from electronic data sheets, whose data is extracted and combined with mapping data used during the configuration of the industrial controller. The functional description may be used to create a reference for the programmer that may be incorporated into the control program source file.

  • Patent number: 7289102
Abstract: In a device having a display, at least one sensor signal is generated from a sensor in the device. One or more context values are then generated from the sensor signal. The context values indicate how the device is situated relative to one or more objects. At least one of the context values is then used to control the operation of one or more aspects of the device.

  • Patent number: 7237559
Abstract: Smokable rods of cigarettes are manufactured using wrapping materials that incorporate at least one fibrous material (e.g., flax fibers, hardwood pulp fibers and/or softwood pulp fibers) at least one filler material (e.g., calcium carbonate in particulate form). The wrapping materials possess multi-layer coatings. The wrapping materials possess coatings in the form of series of spaced apart bands, each band possessing a series of layers. At least one of the coating layers can have a filler material dispersed or suspended within a film-forming material of that layer. For a representative wrapping material, a pattern of applied to the wire side major surface of the wrapping material substrate as a plurality of layers, and at least one of the layers includes ethylcellulose and calcium carbonate. For that layer, the calcium carbonate is present in an amount greater than the ethylcellulose, on a weight basis.

  • Publication number: 20070076267
Abstract: An industrial controller may communicate with a number of input/output (I/O) modules using an optimized connection packet assembled by a scanner communicating directly with the I/O modules and forwarding the optimized connection packet to the industrial processor. The optimized connection packet is communicated over a connection as part of a connected messaging system used to ensure highly reliable network communication. The need for higher data rates for some I/O modules as part of the optimized connection packet may be accommodated through the opening of a second redundant connection that provides the high-data-rate data in an interleaving fashion with the optimized connection packet, without upsetting the optimized connection packet or changing the use of the data by the industrial control program.

  • Publication number: 20070076264
Abstract: An industrial controller includes a processing unit and a memory. The industrial controller is operable to communicate using an optimized connection packet including I/O data from a plurality of I/O modules arranged as an unstructured data block. The processing unit is operable to operate on the I/O data within the optimized connection packet to control a process. The memory is operable to store a plurality of cast tags. Each cast tag is associated with one of the I/O modules and provides a logical reference to a subset of the unformatted data block including at least a portion of the I/O data for the associated I/O module.

  • Publication number: 20060294047
Abstract: An industrial control system includes an industrial controller and a programming interface. The industrial controller maintains a control program for interfacing with a controlled process. The programming interface is operable to communicate a transaction to the industrial controller. The transaction includes a plurality of operations for modifying the control program followed by a commit transaction command. The industrial controller is operable to preprocess the plurality of operations, designate the plurality of operations with a pending status, and commit the operations and clear the pending status responsive to receiving the commit transaction command.

  • Publication number: 20040231685
Abstract: Cigarettes are manufactured using modified automated cigarette making apparatus. Those cigarettes possess smokable rods having paper wrapping materials having additive materials applied thereto as patterns. The additive material can be applied as a coating formulation in an off-line manner to a continuous paper sheet web that is later used for cigarette manufacture. The additive material can be applied as a coating formulation in an on-line manner to continuous paper web moving through an operating cigarette making machine. The coating formulation is applied to the paper web using roll applicator techniques, ink jet printing techniques or electrostatic precipitation techniques. Liquid coating formulation are curable, and are virtually absent of solvent or liquid carrier. Radiation, such as ultraviolet or electron beam radiation, is used to solidify and fix polymerizable liquid components of the coating formulation that have been applied to the paper web.

  • Patent number: 5394784
Abstract: A display module which is independent from a keyboard and can be placed above the keys of any keyboard is provided. The display module includes indicating lights which are positioned to be above each key. A separate processor module receives MIDI signals on a MIDI input board. These signals can be sent along a MIDI cable connected to the processor module, and can originate from either a keyboard, a computer, or any other MIDI compatible device. The processor ignores all but certain of the MIDI signals, keeping the operation simple. In particular, the processor responds to note on and note off signals to turn on the indicating light for a corresponding key.
